You would probably need to have ND play 7 ACC games a year, and flipflop between the two divisions. But that wouldn't work, because if they play all of the Atlantic teams in a given year, then that's the ninth game for all of them, and there's no one left for the Coastal teams to play in their ninth game.
In case anyone is having a hard time envisioning this scenario, let's use this year's schedule. We already play BC and Syracuse. So, our ninth conference game would pick a team from the pool of FSU, Clemson, Louisville, NC State, and Wake. However, all of those schools would have had their ninth game filled by ND, meaning there's no one left in the pool.
Perhaps it can be "fixed" by having ND play 3 teams from one division and 4 from another, but good grief, now we're getting way too complicated.
Not to mention the headaches it would induce in the tiebreaking procedures for determining who goes to the ACCCG. And you know that the ACC will always find a way to get down to the 5th level of tiebreaking.
For the record, they were flying Omni Air... Here's the situation they had with their "unacceptable cargo quality amenities"
Apologies if I don't have to many sympathies for those first world problems they've been saddled with in Atlanta. I mean hell those seats look enormous compared to the average seat I get whenever I fly Delta out of RDU.

I don't know why my post didn't show up under the original post here, but my 1 experience flying international on Omni wasn't great. The plane was old, the seat felt like the cushion hadn't been replaced since the plane went into service. Half way across the Atlantic I felt like was sitting on metal.
I flew on an Omni flight in route to Afghanistan. It didn't take me into Afghanistan, only went as far as Kuwait on that one, but that may have been the WORSE plane I have ever been on. We did have in flight entertainment though. In 2011, the flight attendant put in a VHS tape of the original Wall Street.

When the beat writers were first discussing this possiblity earlier this summer, they mentioned how the Atlantic teams with SEC rivals all play at home the same year, and then GT vs. UGA is always the opposite. So, in the years that FSU, Louisville, and Clemson would all be at home on Thanksgiving weekend, that would be the year that the Atlantic had 4 conference home games and 5 road games. In the opposite year, GT would be hosting Georgia, and the Coastal would have 4 home and 5 away.

I think its more about the nickel and dime-ing from an athletic department that has plenty of money. Thats a showcase for the whole program and a really special trip for everyone going, and according to the article there was a lot of stuff going on in the background with them being cheap about the whole trip. I think the plane was more of a boiling over point than anything else. I'd be kind of pissed if the VT athletic department was doing something similar to one of our teams, these kids are making the school millions of dollars. Don't cheap out on the trip of a lifetime for a lot of these kids
I'm not saying those are bad suggestions or changes, but none of those are the kind that could have been polished up on a one hour tape delay. Those are all decisions that would have to be made ahead of time.
But for every single person complaining about not seeing the ceremonies live, there would have been just as many on the west coast complaining about missing the show because it would have started live at 4 pm.
Yes, NBC could have split the difference and had a live, commentary broadcast either streaming or on one of the cable channels. But they are also a business that is about maximizing revenue -- which comes from people watching the commercials inserted throughout. And NBC has paid a large chunk of change for the Olympics, which means they're trying to make back a large sum of money to make it a worthwhile endeavor.
But, if they didn't have the commentary, how could we have played the NBC Olympics drinking game, taking shots every time they reminded us that the countries were in alphabetical order by the host language or every time they mentioned Michael Phelps? (Because if I had actually been playing that game, I would have been wasted faster than the Logan Thomas drinking game on an ESPN3 stream.)

I'm over playing ECU every season just as much as the next guy, but college football is not just P5 conferences. Let's not forget where CJF came from(no knock to his pedigree) and how much we enjoy watching film of his(Memphis') upset of ole miss. That never happens within some of these aforementioned schedules. I'm all for taking the FCS game off the schedule, but we need to play a G5 opponent. It's good for college football, it's where we came from, it's where our head coach came from, and there is no shame in that.
I read somewhere he was visiting UNC last and/or this weekend.

I think a nice tribute would be a white star with BD inside on the back of the helmets would be fitting. Dooley handed out helmet stars for performance.

Except the guys you are running off are freshman, and if you didn't think they were any good you could have pulled their scholarship offers in December when he got hired, or encouraged them to look around.
