So I got this page and I'm not sure of the number...

Oh, hi. Ya, Slater is tight but there are a few things...surfing is a sport with a very, very small 'playing' population, so tons of great athletes never touch a surfboard. I think swimming has a much farther reach so while Slater has been killing it for years, he probably doesn't face the same competitive balance as Phelps.

I also think competitive surfing isn't a great translation from regular surfing. Some guys that are incredible surfers will never win a competition because judges don't look for a lot of creativity in a ride, just straight-line skills, which Slater is brilliant at. One could rightly argue that Laird Hamilton could be the best surfer/waterman of my lifetime but doesn't have trophies. Gerry Lopez. Taj Burrow. Long list. Kelly Slater is the Tony Hawk of surfing.

Whereas swimming has a singular measure of your quality - the time on the clock. No one has done it like Phelps, I don't think. Not even Leonidas:

However, that's one hell of a pull, smitty. I couldn't think of another one but Slater is a good call.

Wait... the more I read into it, ESPN made a mandate to us. We need to adjust to one of the two following scenarios:

1 - 8 Conference Games + 2 Games against Power 5 schools + 2 discretionary games
2 - 9 Conference + 1 Game against a Power 5 school + 2 discretionary games

Either way, it should create better schedules for us. Hopefully it allows us to break up with ECU, but the more I think about it, we'll likely continue to see them as one of the discretionary games regardless every year. Also heard there might be some real outside the box thinking in the works, where maybe FCS games could be abolished, where schools get to schedule them for the Spring Game or some kind of Preseason exhibition that doesn't count towards ranking, record, or standing, and then have the regular season consist purely of games between Power and Group of 5 games (with the unannounced goal to eventually eliminate the Power 5/Group of 5 games as well)

I used to do deliveries for my dad's NAPA Auto Parts store when I was in school, so I get a pretty good lay of the land in terms of who is "good" and "bad", both by my dad complaining about people being sleazy and by how people treat you when you're delivering parts.

I agree with the sentiments that Merv's (close to Springfield Town Center) and A-One (close to Landmark Mall) are good places. Haven't been to Jim's Automotive myself but haven't heard anything negative about it.

My entire extended family takes our cars to Jim at Seminary Road Exxon (at Seminary Rd and Van Dorn St., right off of the Seminary Rd exit on 395). Jim is a part-owner of the station and is a 70ish year old badass. He'll tell you what needs to be done right away, and what might need to be done in the near future. He also lets me pay him in bourbon (although I don't think he'd let other people do that). I highly recommend it.

I like the sound of that, especially dropping ECU/D2 and playing some tougher teams.
