I'm not trying to bag on David Wilson at all. He's one of my favorite Hokie football players, but he totally took the play off because it was designed that way. Why was he *allowed* to do that? From everything I've read, Fuente isn't going to allow that, which I love.

It's a coaching issue to me. Why even have David line up if you're not going to have him do something that helps the play and his teammates?

I've advocated for the Chromecast on here before. I can cast from any laptop or smartphone in the house to whichever TV I feel like plugging it into. It is also great for travel. Most hotels have wi-fi and decent TV that you can plug it into. That way you can stream whatever you would normally stream at home if you have the appropriate app on your phone. Hell, with the FiOS app, I can cast whatever is on my DVR at home. Whenever I have done any of this, the picture has been crystal clear with no issues. All for $35.

All I know is I have a handicap pass from BMS specifically designed around my seating area so that should minimize walking required and basically I have a reserved parking area.

I agree 100% with your post. David Wilson was a lot of fun to watch, and I'd like to think that he earned that moment off, especially since we scored. He probably got caught up in watching Logan tank his way through the scrum in what was one of my favorite highlights ever.

I hate waiting in lines for bag check BUT have to bring everything I own everywhere I go, so I would recommend getting a (clear, I guess, just to be safe) foldable bag and carrying it while wearing all of the cold/ rain gear through security/ into the stadium, then taking everything off and putting it in the bag. I have a huge purse that folds down, so I do this to skip the line.

I do think there is a serious dissonance between having the Kids Club/ encouraging Lane as a family-friendly venue/ requiring tickets for ALL fans regardless of age vs. banning diaper bags. I mean, come on.

Also I cuss a lot everywhere I go, and I see both sides of the argument. I don't feel like there's an easy answer here - if everyone acted like responsible adults and minded their children and their language, respectively, there wouldn't even be a question.

But if I see a kid throwing a goddang paper airplane all bets are off.

Even if he does become Jake Arrieta down the line, he wasnt going to become Jake Arrieta here in all likelihood so it shouldnt really matter.

Just like Stephen Curry probably wouldnt have been what he is now at Tech if he had come here. Our coaches back then likely would have found a way to ruin his game one way or another.

Not a big deal... was responding to the Carl Lewis National Anthem post...

I agree that NBC has seriously botched their coverage. I thought the opening ceremony was really poorly produced by NBC and every time I've turned it on since then there has been something to the broadcast that has irked me. The commentary isn't very good. They don't show full events. Nothing seems to flow well. It's just a mess. NBC should be ashamed....it's an embarrassment IMO

I'm annoyed with the overall coverage of the olympics by the NBC family. Failing to shows events live, failing to show entire events, not using their entire family of channels to show events all day instead choosing the run reruns of 1990's TV shows. Showing commercials every 8 mins during the few times they run live events. As for wanting the watch the full gymnastics show with my kids I did TiVo it to watch later, but now we know who won and after I watched it last night in bed they didn't a horrible job of actually showing us the "Final Five" actually going through all their routines. How does NBC delay a broadcast for 5 hours and not show final scores or tables? Not show the full medal presentations?

So wait...you have a TiVo DVR and are worried about the timing of a live broadcast so your kids could watch it when it shows after they've gone to bed? I'm sorry, why do you have a TiVo? That's literally the problem that a TiVo was created to solve, to be able to watch something that you couldn't watch when it was live by recording the live broadcast. If your issue is not being able to see the entire thing, then you should consider the options available to watch the entire event. I'm sure plenty of people are upset they can't watch all the Equestrian, Shooting, and Table Tennis matches live on their TV too.

Has any other athlete ever been this dominant over a 12 year period like Phelps?

I'll bring up Kelly Slater.
11 world titles across 3 decades...

Netflix, Amazon prime on the TV with the built in TIVO apps. But it's not live so I'm not trying to switch to another program going on at the same time.

I have been so spoiled by Chromecast. Pretty much anything I'm watching on my laptop gets put on the TV. Granted I have an Android phone and a Windows laptop so maybe there's some problems between that and Apple products but my roommate uses it through his iPhone all the time.

EDITED TO ASK: Has anyone tried out Sling TV? We don't have cable where I live currently and I'd really like to not miss any Tech games if I can avoid it. I'd also like to avoid Comcast and their outrageous-ness if at all possible.

David was so far back in the backfield, I'm not sure that even with his blazing speed, he could have caught up to Logan. lol.

You won't find me ever criticizing David Wilson. I love that guy. Would love to see him on the sideline at Tech in an official capacity. His personality is infectious!

You may have had your own experience (what year did you go?), but my experience at ND was in 2009 for their win over Washington when UW had Jake Locker. The place was bananas all day long. The crowd was loud the entire game and the student section was f-ing lit. And it was pouring for about 80% of the game. Every stadium has it's own character, and I loved how the entire crowd participated with the band's cadences and cheers for the ENTIRE game. I don't think ND is hardly the wine and cheese crowd (a la UVA) as you depict (from my experience).

VT isn't a, say, Nevada rolling in. Especially if VT gets rolling like everyone hopes. It's also ND's final home game and Senior day and if they're in a position for any playoff picture or NY game, they're not going to be looking at this game as 'just another game'. I have faith in traveling Hokies, as I am making the trek as well (wife got us tix for my bday), but personally I think it's pretty silly to think the place might be 1/2 maroon and orange with the other half being a bunch of old farts golf clapping, regardless of the time of the year.

I thought about making a general European soccer thread but EPL seems to generate the most discussion since it's the most widely watched. Maybe create another thread for La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1? They would definitely generate some discussion too. I feel like Dortmund might push Bayern more this season than ever before. They had a great summer.

Since it was already on tape delay and spoiled by NBC online, there's always DVR.

Although it was kind of stupid that they never showed Simone's final score.

my understanding is that if he can stay healthy boyd has the talent to get usmnt call ups, would be interesting with him, wood, altidore, and morris
