Short answer- if you can maintain contain and minimize the space between the defensive ends and defensive tackles, you can contain running quarterbacks (see Denard Robinson.) However, as long as Foster uses his linebackers in leverage coverage or man free, if the quarterback can break contain or too much space forms inside, unfortunately QBs will get some big plays. It is paramount to LIMIT those plays.
Here is an example and a tease for a future article- on this play, Motuapuaka is inside leverage on the slot tight end for UNC. If that tight end takes an inside release and runs up the seam (like he did on this play) there is nobody in the middle if the QB gets out of the pocket. Because of the spread, it becomes a numbers game UNLESS the Hokies can play true man to man five across- and despite perception, the Hokies play leverage man, not true man, across the field.
Here is an example. Motu has to run with the Y. Clarke has to go with the running back to the right flat. Dadi gets pushed behind the pocket, and suddenly there is a huge running lane. So, even in a "safe" scheme with 7 dropped into coverage, you have your mike in deep man to man against an athletic tight end and a huge running lane where even 3rd and 10 can be gained.
A great example was the Matt Ryan ACC championship game. Many may have forgotten but Ryan got a ton of rushing yards on broken plays, and he wasn't exactly Tommie Frazier. When Chris Ellis started bull rushing to tighten the pocket, Ryan's effectiveness took a big dip in the second half.

Sure the retweet flood that is happening is inconvenient or annoying right now (easy fix, turn off retweets for that account) but for those who like to follow recruiting and don't want to pay for a subscription-based recruiting service, this could be awesome in the future. I will know almost immediately when offers are going out or when visits are happening for FREE from an official account.
Miami players will be more ready this year because they finally have an actual coach again. I don't think they'll be bak this year but they'll be bak sooner than later, book it. If Kayaa plays the next two years (maybe not likely with his draft stock being high) I think they'll be able to springboard into a much more successful team.

French would surely be able to answer this better, but over the years we seem to have had defensive success against running QBs when the opposing scheme is predicated on the quarterback running (see: WVU back with Pat White and Denard Robinson at Michigan were both products of RichRod's scheme, as well as GT under CPJ. Bud could game plan against those strategies and we beat them consistently).
Those times we've dropped the ball, so to speak, is when an offense is not necessarily running the QB by design, but when plays break down and we lose contain (see: MD a few years back), Bud can't game plan against this, and it comes down to our athletes vs. their athletic QB, which hasn't gone in our favor.

Change is good after that last couple years. I like the concept of adjusting the scheme to your players than players to your scheme. Here's to hoping it works
