Sheesh, we just hired the guy and he continues to get older. He's now a man (he's 40!), hasn't gotten a commitment in at least a few hours. The game has probably passed him by. Time to start up the speculation on who our next coach will be in the post-Fuente era.

Interesting info. I had always heard that Tremaine was known as the best - or potentially at least. Starting way back when he was a little kid. Some of that was that he was the youngest and they often times benefit from competing with older brothers. I agree that Tremaine needs to stop getting taller....and stay at LB. Regardless...glad we still have those two. Hope they are real difference makers on the field.

Yeah, if you're paying your own tuition, there's a big difference between in-state and out-of-state fees. Maybe Nickle had the same concerns as Hughes, and the coaching staff couldn't ensure him that a scholarship was awaiting. I'll be cursing if we can't find a decent punter, and this guy is "dropping dimes inside the 5" for the Vols.

What sets TKP apart is combining great insight with civil discussion, and the result is information and discussion gravitating to this site.

I would think that this wouldn't be as good for a bobblehead as the surrender cobra. I think this would be better memorialized with the drinking bird

I've thought this through before and came to the conclusion that it will end. I think.

But the circumstances of its ending is what concerns me. I wish it would have ended three years ago because:
1) it wouldn't be a thing anymore
2) the longer it goes the more painful the eventual loss will be
3) Frank would have been able to win the last game he coached against LOLUVA anyway
4) we weren't in contention for anything significant anyway
5) we would have still been bowl eligible

But since it still goes on, I'm left with only one hope:
The streak ends in such a way that we are not stopped from achieving anything significant along the way, like:
1) becoming bowl-eligible,
2) allowing LOLUVA to become bowl eligible,
3) LOLUVA achieving a higher standing in the division than us at season's end,
4) winning the division, or
5) knocking us out of playoff contention.

As long as they beat us in a year where they will still rank below us regardless of the outcome, and we will not win the division regardless, then I'll be sad but not destroyed. Think of the way Pitt beat WVU in the last game of the year to keep them out of the BCS MNC game. That had to hurt. That's what I want to avoid.

Terrell was soooo underrated by everybody. I know his former position coach at Dan River and he said Terrell had the best DB technique he had ever seen in HS, and also said Terrell could have the best chance at the NFL between all 3 brothers with Tremaine being #2. His only concern with Tremaine was that he would keep growing closer to his dad (another couple inches from current height) and that that would force Bud to make Tremaine a DE. He always said if Tremaine would just stop growing at 6'5" (haha) then he had NFL potential at LB, but even then Terrell's natural instincts and hip fluidity were so rare in HS that he had slightly higher potential to be an earlier round guy. Man did he hit the nail on the head.

Small SOVA high school hurt their ratings for sure. This coach also coached at GW-Danville when the Martin Bro's and later David Wilson were there, before being hired by Ferrell Edmunds as part of his original staff at Dan River (outskirts of Danville). Guy was the one who told me Trey was transferring to UMD before it got picked up on Twitter/TKP/anywhere.

Edit: To go with what French said about Trey being potentially one of the great VT backs, the HS coach thought Trey and Terrell were both 1st round NFL talents but was concerned with the # of backs at VT preventing Trey from getting big carries. Ultimately the injuries might be the only thing that kept your shared analysis from coming to fruition.

The 247 staff is great, the forums are a shit show of endless negativity though. TKP is generally the most balanced forum, followed closely by TSL and trailing far far behind are Rivals and 247.

Content-wise, Rivals & 247 nail the recruiting coverage but don't do much else.

TSL and TKP cover recruiting pretty well, and provide a ton of other quality coverage.

Is this a strategy to modify how front 4 play or the back 7? Seems like the need to play more nickel and dime defenses has necessitated a front that can basically build a wall at the LOS so the defense can play small and fast to handle the modern spread offenses.

It used to be use a quick front to force a bad throw. Now it seems like the plan is keep up in the secondary to make the QB have to progress through enough reads to but time for the line to get to him.

I agree. Like you, I'm pretty confidant Capehart is one of the two. But yeah, new info makes me think it's someone else besides Hunter joining him soon (still on defense). Would love Ellis Brooks since we were in his final 2 before; but no sources on that one. Great that he was w/ Hunter.

Hunter is definitely talking us up to the other recruits & it's still probably only a matter of time. Regardless of the order of the announcements these coaches are doing a great job selling the Hokies brand and everyone we pursue is giving us a look it seems like- From PA, NJ, DC, VA, to FL and even another Michigan kid. Idk how they do it all and still get a head start on the future classes.

Edit: Having an HC and a DC both hitting the road hard is clearly part of it. The camps (esp. in GA) have made a difference already too. Kudos to Frank also; the timing of this transition was perfect in nearly every way

The printing firm at the top of ticket is in Arkansas. I'm guessing the info came from BMS, straight outta Tennessee. I take it as a cheap jab.

As much as I dislike UT, the animosity for the Vols is growing daily. I've already had "go Vols" comments on my fb post of my Bristol tickets. So ready to get this game started.

A few:

David Wilson leaping into the endzone after the punt return vs GT
dragging a helpless NC State defender into the endzone
Grayson Lambert being pinballed (although the figure might actually bobble less than the original)

KP seems to be a little bit more of a homer site and 247 seems to be a bit more pessimistic

Disagree vehemently my dude. All my fellow TKP brethren seem to be pretty well leveled. 247 and even TSL are more homer-ish than us. I think it's mainly because we're a younger age group (I think?) than the other sites...and at least compared to 247 we're not a bunch of douche bags.
