Savoy is part of the 2017 class. I assume you meant to post this about Byrce Thompson, in which case, yes, there are many days until 2018 kids sign their LOI.
I like the 2018 pickups, but I'm just a little skeptical with it being so early that come next year, they may fall out of favor with us, or us with them. So basically, I'd say take these recruits with a grain of salt, cause all they are is early verbals, just like most all other 2018 recruits at this point. But hey, at least we're getting out there early to let these guys know we're interested, and exposing them to the beautiful campus and facilities, and Hokie Nation.

# | Hokies Staging a "Blacksburg Bash," Modest Camp to Rev Up Recruiting for the Summer With only one year of HS ball under his belt, it's a little early to make judgements as to how he will pan out, but I'm assuming the basis of the offer was his showing at the camp, along with his upside. Did they say why he missed his entire sophomore year?
I enjoy all this. Being a football fan is fun. There has been so much negativity the last couple of years that I am taking a moment to celebrate that these young men have decided to play football at a program that we love, get a terrific education, and hopefully have set themselves up to have a great all around college experience.
Fast, twitchy, plays downhill. He needs to get stronger, especially in his lower body, but he is playing a role in high school that is very similar to the backer responsibilities in Bud's defense. This is a linebacker who fits scheme more than he will wow general recruitnicks. He looks very instinctive and assertive and changes direction well.

# | What other Cities could the ACC move the Conference Championship Game to. Why all the hate for Jville?
First, I love this because Brown and Savoy represent re-establishing a presence in the DC/Maryland private school world that we lost when Coach Moorehead left. Brown has very solid feet and most importantly, he keeps his feet moving at contact. I love how he is able to rip under a DL and then get to the second level without losing his balance. He finishes blocks and gets terrific extension.
I think his biggest obstacle is that it doesn't look like he has a long wingspan (he gets good extension on his blocks yet his arms still look close to his chest) and he plays a bit tall. But, those feet (just like I said with Tyrell Smith and D'Andre Plantin) are the first piece of becoming a really effective offensive lineman.
Now suddenly, you look at the young Hokies OL- they have Nijman as a sophomore, Smith and Plantin as redshirt freshmen, Patrick Kern, Thomas Hopple, and Zach Hoyt this year, and Silas Dzansi and Brown as freshmen next year... that is a pretty athletic group of young OL who, other than Nijman, will get some time to grow and get accustomed to the speed of college football. Look out folks, this is kind of what depth looks like!
I think you have to put it in a sexy location to fill it. That way people will spend the money to go. The poor attendance ratings are more then likely due to them being in Charlotte, Tampa, and the shithole known as Jacksonville.
Therefore, I think Miami is the best location. Yes it sucks logistically for any teams up north, but it gives people more incentive to go. It's Miami, the weather is fantastic, and it's a real fun place to go.

Got an offensive guard.
This kid has speed to burn and an attitude. I know he is being recruited as a wide receiver, and he likely will be one. But, I liked his corner film even more. He is a bit raw technique-wise, but he has great hips, attacks the football, and has great closing speed. Plus, the kid gets his nose in there and lays a lick- plays with an attitude. I love this landing.

My guess is Garbutt recommitted, Capehart, or Hollifield the 2018 LB from North Carolina.
