It's real. Beamer wrote about it extensively in his book. Having a talent like MV7 on his bench killed him at times when the team struggled, but Frank had promised his HS coach and Vick's mother that he would keep him redshirted so he could deal with adjusting to college. He was thinking not about the success of his team or Vick's performance on the field, but his development as a person. Frank wanted to make sure he had a solid foundation in college as his life was changing considerably. His mom and HS coach worried that he wouldn't be able to handle the pressure and flame out. And Frank, as he always did, kept his word.
Another question touched on it earlier, but are the systems that Fuente used at TCU and Memphis offensively more so different or similar? And if so how?
A follow up to that is, given our current roster, what do you think we will resemble more, TCU or Memphis, and why?
Ricky Walker- it will be difficult for fans to see his contribution, but I think Walker will make the defensive line more stout, and that protects the linebackers.
On offense it is much more difficult, but the only offensive returners who were not getting the same kind of work in the spring were McMillian and Teller. I can't imagine a scenario where Teller isn't starting, but, with Rogers, McKenzie, and McClease (and DJ Reid looked good in the spring too), Fuente has options if he doesn't like McMillian's game. I don't get it, but Fuente has made some drastic changes before (his first year at Memphis, he benched a popular QB for Lynch and struggled through Lynch's growing period. Fans be damned.)
That's an asinine reason, and a total shirk of his duties if true.
Tomato and pumpkin are a-ok. Not a fan of sweet potato anything... pie included.
Same to be honest. I like the multiple games per week, and every loss not feeling like the end of the world.
I think Evans will be our guy, but I'm curious to hear any of your thoughts on this.
I think Evans will be our guy. Still love Motley, though. Class act and a true Hokie.
I think it was more because Beamer always redshirted his freshmen until about 2010

# | ASK FRENCH- What are your Hokie football questions before fall camp kicks off? Which player, who did not play last year, do you see as a "breakout" player? Which 2 starters, if they struggle, have the "shortest leash"?
I said it, I'll take the boos.
Your thoughts on veggies in pies? Pumpkin and sweet potato to be specific?
and no bananas. they are the cheese of fruit.
I prefer a tart- give me cherry, strawberry rhubarb, and granny smith apple any day.
Ice Cream guy here. Is there a method or pattern to which fruits make best pie filling?
I love hearing this. Especially French confirming my thoughts about Mihota.
Cliff notes: Mihota stays at DE, the secondary won't play musical chairs, Settle is chasing down running backs like a mad man. Is it Sept. 3rd yet?
To be perfectly honest, I'm more excited for basketball season this year.
....I can't believe I just said that. And yet it's true.
I was looking more from the money angle.
I appreciate it. Again, this is just one ole boy's opine.
holy cow! way to miss the point!!
He didn't bring up Flowers as an example of somebody we have on the team now who will get sacks. He was just making the point that good DE play doesn't necessarily equate to lots of sacks.
Thanks for the new signature, BTW.
certainly not the same kind of blitz threat off the corner as Flowers, no. There is some Jimmy Williams in Alexander, but he has to get a better feel for the corner spot to play at the same level.
Holey, McDougal's breath.
The writing here on TKP is better than any other sports site. Hands down.
We are BFL to have this stuff here for our Hokies.
And I'm not even drinking.....
That situation isn't as cut and dry as you make it seem. If you go back and look, both quarterbacks had lots of ups and downs that season. Tyrod was certainly more talented but watching him play that first season he was definitely raw.

Justin Fuente or Tom Herman? Tom Herman got Houston beasting quick! Less talent than VT and they ate FSU alive in the Peach Bowl. All bias aside which coach do you like better?
