if only his name was Simmons or Serta instead
Mediocre QB outside the pocket, mediocre one in it.

# | ASK FRENCH- What are your Hokie football questions before fall camp kicks off? Do you see a drop off in our special teams?
And just to give the softer side a voice, this whole thread could be construed as a sexist and in some cases, repugnant review of the subject presented. I'm sorry, but social (not political) correctness might offer a more enlightened view than many of the posts I've read. Sorry to be that guy, but, well, I guess I AM sometimes that guy.
Do you guys have wives, daughters? I know for a fact you all have mothers. Would you feel comfortable making those comments to them? Yeah, I know, we're all a bunch of "guys" here, but remember, we all got moms.
I've said it once and I will say it again: do not sleep on Brenden Motley.
If he's going to "take complete command of the starting rolle" like you suggest, he's going to do it from the start. If Motley starts the season I think it is highly unlikely that he'll lose the job eventually to somebody who will "take complete command" in the sense that I believe you mean.
FWIW, I think Evans will start.
Plus until they get to 12, they look stupid for being a group of higher education institutes that can't count.
Yeah, OR he could confirm what most folks are thinking and take complete command of the starting roll.
If that happens, don't think that Evans or whoever else would do much better if they just lost the position battle to Motley.
Just a heads up for anyone still looking for tickets. BMS has launched their resale ticket exchange, which is on Ticketmaster.

Hope it will help someone.
I think if Mot narrowly "wins" the starting job, he sure as shit won't keep it. Not saying he sucks. I just don't believe he would last long.
I'm pretty sure this has been hashed out ad nauseam.
The general two schools of thought are:
1. Motley sucks and should never be allowed at QB ever again
and
2. Motley just needs the right offense to flourish in, and Fuente's just might be it.
It's really all speculation. I do think that Evans will start but I won't be shocked, nor will I be calling for heads, if Motley wins the starting job. I doubt that happens though.
I am really interested to see what this offense looks like and I can't wait until football season. The off-season is long...and tedious.
I want to see HK-47 back in the official canon. He's a much cooler droid than BB-8, what's not to love about a homicidal assassin droid that provides comic relief?
His tight end recruits have been more the big slot Y's like Hodges, Jace Amaro, etc. FYI, Drake Deiuliis (tight end VT verbal commit from Charlotte) was bumped up to a 4 star ranking by 247 Sports today.
His wide receivers fit the receiver type he recruited at Memphis- mixed bag. He likes having a true X, and then he incorporates scat guys from the slot.
6lb smallmouth
It has been a problem for a long time, especially with the leverage zones. If you go back and watch the 2007 ACC title game, Matt Ryan was breaking long runs through the first half. I think Bud's general philosophy is everlasting. The solution is for the front four to be more reliant on power rushing and collapsing the pocket instead of turning the corner behind the pocket.
New question. With an offense that could possibly give us a big lead and often, how much better do you think our defense will improve?

# | ASK FRENCH- What are your Hokie football questions before fall camp kicks off? Tarean Folston is back, though, as is Malik Zaire. And DeShone Kizer didn't play poorly after taking over for him, either. Plus, we don't play at them until Nov 19th. I'm not going to be too bold on my prediction for that one.

# | ASK FRENCH- What are your Hokie football questions before fall camp kicks off? Settle plays the same position/same hand on ground as Williams. So i think he may have inside track on pushing Williams. Ricky sits behind Baron who's spot is pretty much sealed up. The two spots are not interchangeable without lots of cross training.

# | ASK FRENCH- What are your Hokie football questions before fall camp kicks off? Can this be the year that Bud and co. get a grip on defending the mobile QB? Running more zone may help that. Sure am concerned with Tennessee's abilities in week two.
Would also be interested in your take about Tech's recruiting rut. We have seen how blowing the 2010 and 2011 classes still has an impact almost six years removed.
Fuente has talked of changing the offense based on personnel. You wrote some great articles about what he did at Memphis, and above discussed some changes he may make with the blocking up front. If you go back to previous offenses he has been involved with, like TCU, were there significant differences in use of the H back, play design, type of throws (back shoulder down field) when there were different personnel? And as a follow-up, does he appear to be recruiting players to fill the same roles he had at Memphis, indicting that is what he most wants to run, or is it possible what he ran at Memphis is what he had to run because of who he had, and not what he would ideally run?
