Ray Lewis killed a guy and he was so beloved by the NFL community his number has been unofficially retired by Baltimore and went on to be one of the faces of the NFL programming on ESPN.

This photo made the rounds yesterday on twitter during Game 1... And I couldn't resist turning the first thought I had into a meme.. Please stay close to on topic and not turn HokieMcGruber's thread into a rant about the past . Just be glad for the Curry family's ongoing success, and relish in a moment of humor.

Vandy is in the SEC in name only, they don't share any of the characteristics of the rest of the conference.

I'm not even following what point you are making or why I'm responding. I guess that our problem isn't relevancy, it's coaches selling? Sure, that's a problem. But relevant programs generally don't hire coaches who can't sell, so it 's not easy to differentiate between the two.

And I really don't care that much, I just saw the comment that UT recruited when they were irrelevant....which I disagree with because they are never not relevant.

VT's problem in recruiting, if you think they have one, is that we aren't relevant enough, we hired a coach who isn't a proven recruiter and he filled his staff with coach first, recruit second guys. That's not a great recipe for recruiting success. If VT is going to "succeed" in recruiting (and I think we'll do fine), it will be because our offense recruits itself and/or the Memphis coaches grow into very good recruiters. Both of those things very well may happen. Or not, and we'll struggle for recruiting relevancy.

Pointless LeBron stats incoming:

LeBron is 0-4 in the finals when his shoe does not have a carbon fiber plate on the side, 2-0 when it does. I believe his shoes have the plates this year.

LeBron is 0-4 in NBA Finals when Mark Jackson is an analyst, 2-0 when he's not.

He is 1-6 in finals game 1s. His sole win coming in a series the Heat eventually lost to the Mavs.

Anyone got any others? I love this stupid stuff.

Very true. The first game of a series can mean very little. Nobody thought OKC would beat the Spurs after a merciless beatdown in game 1.

We always overreact to single games in an NBA series. Adjustments will be made. The series doesn't get serious until a home team loses.

If we play Brazil in this tournament we will win. Book it. Brazil is one of the most overrated teams in all of sports and just lost two of the best guys remaining on their team. I really like Chile, but they just lost to Jamaica (yeah I know it was a friendly, but still). With Suarez and possibly Messi not playing, it's really anyone's tournament.

Picks
Group A: Colombia and USA
Group B: Brazil and Peru
Group C: Uruguay and JAMAICA
Group D: Chile and Argentina (win both other games and tie each other, Chile wins goal difference)

Colombia over Peru
Chile over Jamaica
USA over Brazil (maybe a homer pick but Brazil sucks)
Argentina over Uruguay

Argentina over US
Colombia over Chile in Pk's

Argentina over Colombia (3-1)

Concacaf also has THE worst referees. I'm not exaggerating. I'll make an exception for that guy from Mali.

i feel like we ALWAYS struggle to get into the Hex...always need 4+ pts in our last 2 qualifiers. i also feel like more often than not we wait til the last match of the hex to clinch top 3 there, too. it's just the nature of this region. we get EVERYONE's best shot. also, i would love to see Euro teams go play in some of these locations in central america and the caribbean. before the heat, humidity and fans even got to them, they would be appalled at the facilities and playing surfaces. our region is not a fun one...

True, but they won 73 games for a reason and their bench play was a big part of it. Livingston and Iguodala could start on more than half the teams in thee NBA.

I think the Cavs will make the series interesting, but I got the Warriors in 6. Just too much firepower.

this was your comment was it not, "SEC schools never lose relevancy in recruiting."? Vandy gained relevancy under a coach who could sell. Since then, what? The SEC has plenty of schools that are not recruiting juggernauts. Vandy isn't the only one. Miss st, missourri, Kentucky, Arkansas, ole miss (until a new HC, go figure) are not big time recruiting programs. What do most SEC schools that recruit really well usually have in common? A dynamic HC that can sell. Saban, Butch, Richt (while he was there), Les Miles and on and on and on.

By that same logic, GS fans can't possibly believe they will get that kind of bench production and role players hitting an absurd number of low percentage, superstar shots.

Livingston and Iggy sure deserve a lot or kudos. Iggy is so versatile with his defense and great handles, timely scoring. Cavs can't be too excited to hold Steph and Klay down and still get blown out. Based on the victories last year, this regular season and last night, it's hard to picture the Cavs winning

we're going to make the hex, and id be shocked if we don't make it to Russia.

People said they wouldn't advance in Brazil and they did...The USMNT for better or worse seems to have a tendency to play to the level of it's competition, i could see them getting 5 points in the group stage and making it out
