yeah, you have to weigh everything, but when talking about the current state of the program and affairs you weigh the recent past more heavily. your most recent conference championship was 18 YEARS AGO. 18 years ago i was in elementary school, i don't define myself today about what i did when i was legitimately afraid of cooties. your last division championship was 10 years ago, when i was still playing competitive soccer and was pretty good; by your logic i should be sending Jurgen Klinnsman a strongly worded email for not even considering me for the US team.
in the entire history of college football and the SEC, yes Tennessee is one of the top programs. but over the last 10-15 years that simply isn't true by any measure

The consensus response was that he only had the small guys at Memphis and TCU because of talent availability. I don't think that's true, I wouldn't be surprised to see us take 3 sub 6' guys this class.

A little bit of a chicken and egg situation as I am not sure if this is Fuente's ideal or his ideal based on talent available at Memphis.

Good runs in that time. But when you're looking at the status of a program as a whole then it's dumb to pick 2-3 years and say that's who they are. Everything is cyclical. Tennessee had a run in the 90s and has stunk since. Y'all had a good 10-15 year run and recently faded off. Even Bama, while it seems like they've been winning forever, was terrible for a decade until 2007. What makes a program who they are, and gives them an identity, is the body of work as a whole.
