All the characters getting killed off is part of the appeal of Game of Thrones. Some key characters still get some plot armor and stick around through many perilous situations, but more often than your typical writer, Martin is much more willing to build someone up as a key character and then have them bite it as a surprise or simply a nod to the concept that "life isn't fair".

That could be a reasonable proposition, but didn't the NCAA rule go far beyond that? If I'm understanding the ruling correctly, the coaches can't go and host a camp far from home. It's not limited to holding spring practice in Florida like UM did this spring.

edit: never mind. It looks like they didn't even address the spring practice issue.

Was considering giving up watching Game of Thrones after they killed off half the Stark family members and Jon Snow as well as Ygritte. Seemed like hardly any of the few good guys were left (except maybe Daenerys Targaryen, the dragon woman). Since Jon is being brought back from the dead, maybe I'll take up the watch again despite it having some of the most brutal torture and murder scenes I've ever seen in a mini-series and seems like at least half the main characters have been killed off. Too bad we can't bring back old favorite Hokie players to ride again. Have to admit, it has some of the spectacular scenery and visuals on TV.

Well then, I stand corrected. I was sure I'd heard of Beamer doing something similar at ODU several years back. Memory ain't what it used to be, I guess.

I think it comes down to a simple concept. The football team should not be traveling in Spring semester. That's their chance to actually focus on academics, and making them travel in the spring just interrupts that cycle.

Nope Peen state in the 2014/15 season was the first school to send coaches to another smaller schools camp to work there.

I'm fairly sure these satellite camps have been around for a while. It's just that nobody paid much attention to them until Harbaugh went over the top with the whole process.

Umm the satellite camp thing has only been around for a season or two how have all these kids been given a chance in that small amount of time?

I think it's going to be a huge season for her. She finally went through some adversity and challenges last season but that trailer made me feel like there is going to be a lot more of that this season. I might be wrong though.

No, I don't think Michigan is looking for those kinds of players. I also don't think the story should be about Michigan at all. They're just the lightning rod that ignited the whole firestorm. The issue should be about the student-athletes, whose best interests are being disregarded here. That's my objection to the whole brouhaha. There are a lot of kids out there on scholarship to a lot of good programs that wouldn't be there if not for these satellite camps. They're the ones who have the most at stake in this debate, and they don't have a say in the matter. Here's a small sampling of what players think about the situation.
Players don't like the new satellite camp ban

Not trying to be a mod poseur here, but there's been a bit of a row over this particular image being NSFW, and the final verdict was it should be linked instead of embedded.
Sweet Jesus you're quick, VTGuitarman.

Not to go all meta and revive an ancient argument, but please (everyone) do not post this image. Borderline (or maybe more than) NSFW and has caused consternation among people here. I am blurring it until it is removed.

I am not a BBQ aficionado like some folks always claim to be. I just know it tastes good.

This is what it's all about. I love to BBQ, but I find BBQ purists insufferable. You should have fun, drink beer all day and share the finished product with friends. That's one reason I love doing BBQ for games. It's basically a tailgate.

If you want to get technical, salt and pepper is a dry rub. And done right, it's one of the best dry rubs you can use. My rub for brisket isn't much more than that.

Well, part of it has to do with the number of games, but the total amount of ballpark visitors doesn't lie.

Again, overall population growth as well as increases in number of games affects these numbers but this doesn't look like a dying sport.

The %of metro area and %of ballpark capacity lines do a good job of correcting for this.

I dry rub mine, then steam in apple cider for 5+ hours. I then lightly coat in BBQ sauce and put under the broiler to caramelize the sauce and thicken it up. I've had no complaints but I am not a BBQ aficionado like some folks always claim to be. I just know it tastes good.

I bet if they had split it up by zip code instead of by state you'd see a high concentration of UT = Tennessee in SWVA, and then very little elsewhere in the state.

Tennessee just hasn't been nationally relevant since Peyton Manning's era, and the population living outside the region populated with arrogant Tennessee fans just aren't going to be thinking about them all that much. Meanwhile Texas has won a national title within the last decade and is just a much more widely known school with a much larger fan base (Longhorn Network for example) that is spread out all over the place.

Also there is no VT - Tenn rivalry. There is great potential for one, but it doesn't exist, and won't unless we play on a regular basis for 20 years.

Let's be honest it's every human everywhere at some point in their life.

My personal guideline is that any restaurant seen as a tourist attraction is going to be mediocre at best as a rule. You just can't control quality at that scale. But there's probably something as good as the old place was in a hole in the wall around the corner.
