Good post, and had to chuckle at the Nebraska fan. I do agree with the comment on the crazy helmet logos. Seems to me it would be a good idea to find a helmet logo or two that we like, and stick with them. Having a different helmet design or logo every other week is nuts, unless it's being done strictly for merchandise sales, and auctioning off helmets. All these helmet designs/logos confuses the random college football fan cause it doesn't promote the school's identity, unless you're Oregon, but if we were all like Oregon, it would be difficult to figure out teams based on helmet designs/logos.

In my profile, I listed the home game against Nebraska as a highlight of attended Hokie games. Also would like to shout out to Nebraska fans that were there. They were extremely respectful and had nice things to say about B'burg and VT. I really like the GENERALLY BEAUTIFUL UNIFORMS comment. I got rung up on a previous post when I said I like the simple color balance and leave the helmets alone. Sheesh!! It is one of the things I really liked when we moved up here 25 years ago and picked the Hokies as our team. I thank the Good Lord for that decision.

Step 1: Recruit player from Norfolk area
Step 2: Have player be awesome enough to make it into the NFL
Step 3: Player plays long enough to get enough money to do this
Step 4: They do this

This is an awesome story. I wish someone would do something like this for norfolk public schools. That system needs a lot of help...

This talk about our lack of basketball prowess, history or whatever as a reason for leaving a program is so SHALLOW! If you want to leave a program for those reasons, then LEAVE, cause that says ZERO about your CHARACTER and AMBITION. A program is what you make it. Alabama football wasn't Alabama football before Bear Bryant, just like UCLA basketball was nothing before John Wooden. That's crazy talk, boss!

A move to a Big 12 school other than KU would professionally be a lateral move, at best. If he was to move, it would have to involve moving to a location he considers to be "home" (more so than Blacksburg), and more $$$. It's not like VT and the ACC are second rate to many schools, and he has the job security and resources here to grow something big. Usually can't stop someone from going where they ultimately want to go, but I think Buzz knows he has a good gig here, and wouldn't leave this soon in the process.

When you talk about leaving for his alma mater, are you talking about Buzz or Fuente? I ask because one of the reasons I've been so pleased with both of those hires is that I don't think the allure of the alma mater is a real threat to us retaining those guys. There's no way an NAIA school like Oklahoma City College can afford Buzz, and neither can Murray State afford Fuente. One might argue that Oklahoma, not Murray State, could be that dream school for Coach Fu, but everything I've read about his departure from OU leads me to believe that there's too much bad blood to overcome.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- At least three former University of Louisville men's basketball recruits have confirmed to NCAA investigators that they attended parties inside an on-campus dorm where strippers danced for them and prostitutes were paid to have sex with them, a source close to the NCAA investigation told Outside the Lines.

The source said the three former Louisville recruits met with NCAA investigators in October and November. Chuck Smrt, the person hired by the University of Louisville to monitor the progress of the NCAA's investigation, also attended those meetings.

This just keeps getting more and more interesting.

I would lose a ton of respect for Buzz if that happened. I mean I'd understand if we were still where we were and it was year 5-7 or something but it's year two. You're going to jump ship that quick?? After all that he has talked about and said he's just going to abandon it????

If he leaves then I don't how anyone could trust what he says. I have a lot of respect for Buzz and what he's doing in Blacksburg. To just up and leave at the drop of a hat in year two would go against almost everything he has seemed to speak towards and stand for.

Man, living in Nebraska for so long and being a Hokie fan, made those two games memorable for a lifetime. I was at the 08' VT vs Neb game with another Hokie, and it was the one of the greatest times in my life. The 09' Tyrod & Danny Coale play almost brought me to tears.

Only thing that sucked was the fact that we couldn't sit in the Hokie section. Oh well...

Maybe not right now, but in a season or too if Buzz can get the Hokies to the dance and go deep then he will probably have the choice of any program in the country. We are not exactly known for our basketball prowess. ON the football side, fuente is still too much of an unknown to see what will happen. If he gets us winning ACCCG's and BCS bowls (whatever their name is now) then maybe he will start getting calls to the big boys too. We shall see, no point in speculating too much now.

Sad, just sad. Student is going so far away from the first part of student athlete. Also I guess there might be some benefit gained from moving to another school district to reduce overcrowding I have a hard time believing the "good" school districts will have the ability to take lots of transfers...
