Berth*. A birth is... well, you know what a birth is. A berth, historically, was a ship's mooring space. If you were a more important ship, you were more likely to get a better or even any mooring space in a busy harbor. For basketball, it means getting a spot in a tournament. The better the play, the better the moor.

And yeah, 97 after beating Miami can't be right.

That has to be wrong. It says we were previously 96th? Beat Miami and drop???

Edit: Meant to reply to HokieBleedsG&B

RPI obviously won't still be in the 80's with two more wins. It would be higher bc that would include a win over the 3 seed, but it will
Be in the 60's most likely. Still too high. I respect that you've "been watching this crap" for a long time, but it doesn't change what the RPI says we are or the fact that it's a major deciding factor in the committee's decision. For better or for worse (probably worse).

I don't think 2 wins in the ACC tournament does it. Here's why. The magic number of wins is 21 now, it used to be 20 in years past. Two more wins would be one against either BC or FSU now (two terrible teams that don't help our status) and Miami again. The win yesterday was at home. If we can beat them on a neutral site it obviously looks better but I still think we need a really good win against ND, UVA (BOOOOOOOOOOO!), UNC or Duke. The bracketology predictions on ESPN have had VT at no longer considered for a few weeks. So to be honest, I think they need to win the damn ACC Tourney to get in. That being said, Holy cow should tech be proud. Winning the last 5 games, two of which were against ranked team, protecting home court very well this season, getting a 6 seed in the ACC and a NIT birth. Obviously I follow WVU bball as well but it feels very similar to WVU's NIT birth years back when coach Beilein was coaching there. WVU was in the dumps for BBALL for a while and slowly got an identity. They won the NIT that year, got a lot of experience for a young team and then made a few tourney runs. This VT team is going to be good next year.

Here's my question: does the committee like and respect Buzz enough to get over their blatant disrespect and dislike of our program?

I upped my donation this year to show support for the changes, all of which appear to have Hokie sports (especially the big two sports) headed in the right direction. If we really want to compete with the Big Boys all Hokies who are sports fans need to help by opening their wallets, even if it is just a modest contribution.

At least they're pulling in that all-important Boston media market for the ACC. They've got page 9 of the Boston Globe sports section on lockdown.

I'm looking into getting session 2 tickets myself. I currently might be planning on going by myself. Does anyone have an extra that they'd like to sell in the 100s section?
