# | Hokies Earn Sixth Seed In Upcoming ACC Tournament After 77-62 Trouncing of No. 7 Miami Man, Buzz shouldn't have been such a jerk to the media /s
I hope Buzz uses this as extra motivation to make a splash in the ACC tourney.
I hate the overrated chant. When you chant overrated it sounds like you are devaluing your own victory or accomplishment rather than just acknowledging that you beat a really good team therefore giving yourself credit.
Websters.com now includes a link to this topic as their example of "rhetorical".
I think that the student fans can feel involved just by the atmosphere and Buzz storming around pumping his fists in victory afterwards. You don't want to rush too much or it will start to take away the special feeling associated with it. I think if we beat them in dramatic fashion at the buzzer it may have happened.
I would NOT advise taking the metro. On weekdays the metro closes at midnight. It is very possible that the game could end right before midnight and you would have to cab/uber back to your car in Springfield.
I wouldn't consider us a lock for anything just yet, we could conceivably still stink it up in our ACC tourney game(s).
But you made me curious how 7 seeds in the ACC have done the past few years:
NC State earned an NCAA bid the past two years (2015: W vs Pitt, L vs Duke; 2014: W vs Miami, W vs Syracuse, L vs Duke)
Before them Maryland earned an NIT berth in 2013 (W vs. Wake Forest, W vs Duke, L vs. UNC)
Clemson got left out in 2012 (L vs the good guys)
Maryland got left out in 2011 (W vs NC State, L vs Duke)
GT earned an NCAA bid in 2010 (W vs UNC, W vs Maryland, W vs NC State, L vs Duke).
All this to say, of course, that I have no clue what we'll end up doing. GT made the ACC title game when they earned their invite so I don't think it's unreasonable to say we'd have to do the same.
Buzz would literally snap his arm off
time to make the voters eat their votes; hope the Hokies march on through the ACC tournament with a vengeance!
Why wait on the assessment? By any objective measure the Fuente hire was an excellent job.
If Fuente ends up not being good, that's more on him than any mistake by Whit. Not to mention that the stark reality is that the previous coach, regardless of all well deserved platitudes, did not leave a program currently constructed to compete for the CFP.
Welp, I'm Buzzed.
A lot of things would have to happen, including about 25 teams being declared ineligible for cheating.
Oh I agree, I just think that it was likely a GT beat reporter who gave him the vote. Same deal with Brownell. Buzz and Larannaga were the only candidates you could make a legit argument for.
Think Spring Break is a factor? The fact that we controlled the game definitely was. People are a lot more likely to storm the court after an exciting finish than when you dominate all game.
VT was worse last year and three spots better this year just in conference play.
Does Swofford get a vote? :-)
And if you look closer, you see that Miami's place in the standings is as much about ND and Duke not being nearlly what was expected. If those 2 live up to their preseason hype, Miami finishes 5th.
Because #goacc
Gregory I can somewhat understand, GT improved quite a bit from last year but Roy getting a vote is ridiculous. For a team that was preseason number 1 and having an ridiculous amount of talent, Roy was underwhelming if anything this year.
If it was that close, they should have had them arm-wrestle for it.
We finished 7th. Not sure we have lock yet.
I'd like to know how Roy Williams got a vote and why Brian Gregory at GT got a vote???
Miami was picked to finish 5th in the league...they finish 3rd
VT was picked to finish 14th in the league....they finish 7th
I just don't understand how coaching an experienced, emerging Miami team to their season and coaching a perennial last place VT team to their season are comparable. Bias aside, Buzz should have won this.
Word is that Lawson has worked hard to rectify those things that had him at odds a bit with some of his teammates, which speaks very highly of his character & motivation. I thought it was a crime to burn his shirt last year for the amount he played.
Motley has all the tools physically. If he picks up the scheme, he's far from an afterthought to run the O. I'd love to see him win the battle, as I think he's been a great team player.
Evans.... looks great on tape against lesser opponents. Kind of like the 4/5 star high school QB everyone drools over, but you don't really know what you have until you see him against Div 1A game speed. Spring practice, summer workouts and Fall Camp will tell the tale there.
Either way, I think we can all be thrilled with our prospects no matter who wins the battle.
Larranaga has 24 votes, Buzz 22. Seems like some people were swayed by the game yesterday, but unfortunately not enough.

We didn't schedule like a bubble team because we weren't one. We aren't a tournament team this year. That's okay, just enjoy that we are way ahead of where our coach thought we would be when he setup the schedule. Or maybe that easy first two months allowed us to grow to this point.
