It's all but confirmed that there will be a scene at the Tower of Joy, likely via Bran's tree-boy powers. This would be a scene of major importance and would likely reveal details that even book readers do not know for certain yet.

Didn't they say they were doing flashbacks or something like that this season? I only have a vague recollection, no actual #sauces lol

For whatever it's worth, I had a dream last night we were playing Memphis in the first round of the CBI. Take that with a grain of salt.

(note: I did have a dream the night before the USA/Belgium game that Julian Green would score a wonderstrike. JUST SAYING)

I hadn't really considered what it would take yet. Thanks for this analysis.

I think at least two of these teams make the dance, obviously dependent on how the last few weeks of the season shake out. We all keep forgetting about Louisville, who can't play in the ACC tournament or march madness.

Cuse will be in, been playing much better with Jim Boheim back, plus they are a tournament constant. The committee wont leave a big time program like that out.

Pitt, Clemson, FSU. I'll guess Clemson or Clemson&FSU are left out.

It sounds like we're looping back over a lot of material from previous books, re: Iron Born (Kingsmoot!) and Jaime's adventures through the Riverlands, so really they're buying time or otherwise catching up with important details. So I don't expect a resolution "soon" but we still have to make some progress.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD! TURN BACK NOW ALL YE WHO WISH TO REMAIN PURE.

Comments from Sophie Turner suggest that Sansa's suffering may be paid back soon, and there are set photos of Kit Harington that prove he's no longer at the Wall...but that's all I'll say because that's super spoilery. Note that "not at the Wall" implies nothing about alive vs. dead vs. warged vs. whatever else (I'm trying my best to keep this vague, but suffice to say I expect the resulting storyline to be very interesting).

Yeah, to put ourselves in position to make the NIT, I think 4 wins are necessary. If, by some miracle, we can get to that point, then I think we would have a good shot of being invited to the NIT.

As of now, Syracuse and PITT are projected as locks for the NCAA tournament, while FSU is one of the "Last four in". Clemson is one of the "First four out". That's of course just Joe Lunardi speculating, but I think it's a good indicator of what to expect, assuming each team keeps playing like they have been.

But again, I have no idea how to predict the rest of this wild VT season.

Aren't there rumors of extending the seasons past 8 now? Yes, an ending is coming, but not anytime soon.

My wife's theory makes sense to me (as most wives' theories do to husbands), that Dany's dragons eventually must be warg'd by Bran to defeat the White Walkers. For that to happen, we probably need to have some advances of the White Walkers into the North to convince everyone that Dany must return to rule.

I agree that eventually we will end up with an ending, but I'm expecting more misery and pain this season.

As long as it is not an ECU extension, I can live with whatever it is.

The oath the Night's Watch takes is until death. If he is brought back from the dead, technically he is free of that oath and can then be set up to rule the north at some point. That is my hunch.

Sorry. Threw in a quick edit. But just not exciting. I heard they were working on improving the schedule and was disappointed when I found out the opponent.

Slightly OT: Future OOC Schedule announcement coming today. Not exactly that exciting. #dMv

Yeah, I'm not looking for a kumbaya, good-over-evil kind of fairytale ending. But there has to be an ending. An endless cycle of misery for all characters, while somewhat of a theme in the books and show, has to resolve somehow, otherwise it just becomes boring and predictable, in contrast to what the story has (largely) done so far. Someone has to rise up and assume a leading role here, even if that person dies or is otherwise exposed as flawed (as he/she should be, for the sake of realism).

Exactly. The entire story has been leading to someone eventually becoming the one true ruler to unite the realm. The white walkers are coming and will get beyond the wall. Somehow I don't see Martin designing some plan where everyone dies and the White Walkers rule. Sure, Martin is full of surprises, but that's not going to be it.

At some point, though, the story has to actually reach some sort of conclusion. Continually annihilating everyone or ruining them just doesn't make sense from a narrative standpoint. A clash in the North will happen at some point, initially between men, then involving the walkers. I am absolutely sure that Jon is coming back, and my bet is that he leaves the Watch because his vow is released because he has died. What he gets himself into, I don't know, but I feel pretty certain his future is not on the Wall. I bet he also gets an "I-told-you-so" moment at some point when the walkers reveal themselves to the North.
