# | Danielle Bartelstein Stresses "Business as Usual" Start to Hokie Career, Despite Groundbreaking Role Is that the crossbar in the Beamer Barn? Why is it all wonky?
Are these advanced predictions published out there somewhere that we could read them? Or is this more of a scribbled in a notebook kinda thing?
If you don't embrace Snapchat and other social media platforms, a lot of BTS access will pass you by. If you don't like the BTS, that's fine, but their own Snapchat, Periscope, whatever other platform pops up tomorrow, is gonna be the best access you can have to your teams. Traditional media is watered down for the most part, and slowly dying in it's current format.
The case is alleging, in essence, that the University deprived the victims of due process. If true, that's just as important as the perpetrators due process.
So a VIP article on 247 states that Cameron Hearn from Texas hasn't signed yet and he is hearing from VT. He is considered a 5* punter according to the Kohl's kicking ranking. We've gotta beat out OSU, TCU among others
I can't remember anymore what I've read in the books and what happened in the show they all run together now.
I don't think we've seen the last of Rickon. He's with Osha headed to House Umber for refuge. Prediction: Sansa attempts to reunite the North under House Stark and in doing so, reunites with Rickon.
EDIT: For reference, he's still cast in the upcoming season. So we will see him again for sure. His role though, I haven't the slightest clue.
Based on this excerpt (I haven't read the whole thing, yet), the whole lawsuit looks shaky at best. Due process is one of the fundamental principles of our nation's justice system. Now, the university is being sued for allowing the accused to defend him/herself? I say, let the accused defend himself, and if found guilty, throw the book at him. I'm not defending the all-too-common practice of letting a star athlete off the hook with a stern warning, or a discreet payoff to the accuser, but far too often, at colleges across the country, they're skipping the "if found guilty" part and just throwing the book at anyone accused of sexual misconduct.
A whole lot of J. Evans this morning...
This.

an environment in which the accusers were not comfortable in bringing accusations forward (its alleged that even another player was harassed for trying to do the right thing),
This is the core issue, IMHO. The arguments about representation and burdens of proof are important, and I'm glad folks are thinking about those issues and not just spouting off. But there is a perception in some of these cases, and I for one find it believable (which is certainly not the same as "proven") that in the minds of many college football fans, winning football games is more important than holding young men accountable for rape. To the extent that is true, it is barbaric and disgusting, and any part of any system that supports that attitude should be rooted out.
As I see it, that's the bottom line for the movement that has led to Title IX lawuits like this one. If I had to choose between VT losing the best player it ever had, or allowing that player to play after he raped a fellow student, there is absolutely no way I would support protecting the player. I would rather see the team forfeit every game than see the University protect a rapist.

# | Danielle Bartelstein Stresses "Business as Usual" Start to Hokie Career, Despite Groundbreaking Role You and I both. Our peers are better than us.
The part that saddens me about Ms. Bartelstein: Looking up her profile, I saw she graduated from Illinois in 2006, one year later than I did from VT. It's come to a point that as I get older and I become gravely less accomplished than my peers.
That's a meteoric climb from graduation to Football Ops Dir. in 10 years and extremely impressive. Congrats Danielle, I'm sure you have to be damn good at your job to make that rise in such a short time.
Some great video from the workouts this AM on the vtfootball snapchat. Worth the add for sure
Hopefully she is a great hire and we can start bringing in other top talent, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc,
This made me think of this:

Now if they can figure out a way to run targeting reviews and media time-outs concurrently ...
What was the point of Rickon Stark? Why write in a character to never get back to him? Where is he now and do you think he will ever show up again?
I love his take on hiring new recruiting positions:
"I don't believe just because everyone else has it that we need it. If a coach can make a good argument for why we need to do it, and what it will impact, then if it makes sense, I'll say yes to it. ... I believe Alabama is overkill, but they can afford it, so more power to them. But yes, we have seen some increase in staff, but we don't do it just to keep up with everyone else. ... I don't feel like he went overboard with it, and I was happy to do it, and that's what we did and talked about. I mean, are we really going to invest everything that we're investing in football to win games, and then nickel and dime a couple of entry-level positions? No."
Loved seeing the kickers out there doing all the drills also.
I didn't know where to post this picture, but the vtfootball snapchat was excellent this morning. About 3-4 minutes of workout footage.

That's a very liberal use of the word 'amazing'
I don't know if you have a wife or sister or some other woman close to you in the business world, but this kind of stuff is a real problem, especially in male dominated fields (ie. football). There's nothing wrong with calling a woman attractive when it's appropriate, but often in the business world it's done as a means to belittle women. My wife is a civil engineer (a male dominated field) and works with a lot of contractors (even more so). When they say things like this it's not to compliment, it's a form of disrespect because they would rather speak to the man and is done in a highly dismissive manner.
While I'm sure the first comment was totally innocent, it follows a pattern that is anything but. That's why people call it out, because it sets a standard that that kind of talk is acceptable.
Taylor Swift is amazing and Kanye is an insufferable douche. His recent twitter rants making that ever more obvious.

It's seriously fucking stupid that you feel the need to put all these conditions in your post so that you don't get down voted to hell. I swear a lot of threads on this site are the core commenters jumping on other, less established posters. There are already moderators who spend a lot of time on here, the 15 comments piling on people is completely excessive. It's led to people apologizing in their posts before they even had a chance to bother somebody. It's ridiculous. It's a message board, you are allowed to have an opinion and people are allowed to disagree. This place would be boring as hell if everyone shared the same mind.
First, it was people losing their mind over sources, now it's people getting worked up over an attractive lady making way in a mans world (not unlike all you VT fellas working with female engineers). Everyone at some point acknowledged in their mind that she was attractive, whether you outwardly admit it or not. That's human nature. It's obvious that she cares about her outward appearance, damn anyone to hell that notices. I did not see where anyone demeaned her or implied that she wasn't extremely qualified for this position.
Fuck it, soap box time from a no-named unknown commenter. I don't do much on here but read daily and vent an impassioned fans' nonsense on game day threads. I used to get excited when I saw multiple comments pop up on a thread. Now an influx of comments usually means people are bitching at one commenter or it's some meme/image/gif off-topic tangent thread. I don't know when, why, or how but this site went from an amazing place that provided insight into the program and excellent analysis to educate the fans to a place where posters apologize before they hit 'submit'. Hell, I've even seen well respected writers take jabs at TKP fans in the middle of their articles. Maybe it's me, maybe I'm the problem. Maybe my opinion of this website and what I thought it was meant to be was over inflated. Maybe I'm getting older and cranky. I don't know, but something has changed. TKP comment sections are starting to remind me of ESPN comments from years ago....completely useless and a waste of time. All I know is that this place is starting to piss me off and there is nothing I can do about it, be it personally or on the website. There is still, even with all of these problems, no better place to get my VT fix.
This is the best VT website in existence and it gives me the sads that I'm conflicted by it.
End Rant, no /s. I still love most of you.
