There are some genetics involved as well. I ruptured my Achilles tendon a year and a half ago, and I was trying to read about how to prevent it from happening again in the future. I read an article that pitched it as "Good news! It's not your fault!" But I wanted it to be my fault, because that meant that I had some control over it and could work to prevent it. That I may be genetically more susceptible to injury is not good news at all.

Completely agree. I think it should be at least in the rotation for away-game (white) uniforms.

Overall, very well spoken and still weird to hear another voice other than Beamer's when introduced at Head Football Coach.

#sauses# say: Be ready for a very competitive QB fight between Evan's and Lawson this Spring. Lawson has turned a corner and has the locker room lead. Evan's didn't expect this kind of competition when he showed up and is ready for a dog fight..

I am looking foward to see what this coaching staff and S&C display when Spring starts.

Something I found out at the baseball night if anyone is interested is that the plans for a new basbeall stadium have already been made and Babcock has unofficially approved them. The renovation will leave the field but change the seating to be like an actual stadium with covered seating. A much needed clubhouse for the team will go under the practice facility which is down the left field side of English field. The estimated cost is $20 million.

I graduated in '01. My older brother graduated in '94, my sister in '96, and my younger brother in '02. I moved the family back to Mechanicsville a few years ago, but into the Atlee school district. Jokingly, I hope they redistrict us to Hanover High so I don't have to feel so dirty cheering for the Raiders when my kids reach high school. I have several confederate alumni living on my street, though they preceded my time there by 10 to 15 years.

What year did you graduate? I have good memories of going to Lee Davis games as a kid and watching Adam Burke, Nick Burney, Guy Harris, and [insert Mac McConnell featured running back name here] back in their heyday.

I'm watching that play and chuckling as I watch. After Davis scores, I'm watching everyone mobbing Davis and then realize it's Ward! Even the State Trooper is in on it.

Still my all-time favorite Virginia Tech play!

You're probably right, but things change. If we're gonna go the retro route full time, the difference between those and adding a stripe and a white facemask is minimal. Personally I'd like to see us completely change the helmets. I really liked the tri-color and thought they'd make a good permanent replacement.

If it were up to me I'd go with the stripe from the Fight Gobbler helmet on a maroon gloss paint with an orange flake, with a white facemask. And power VT of course.

Not surprising... his injury to the right one probably caused him to put too much stress on his left one over a course of time, and it finally just gave out. A torn achilles takes a very long time to heal, so he probably got used to favoring his left leg, which ended up causing this one. Happens quite a bit with these kinds of injuries from what I understand.

100% agree on the Reggie Bush comparison. Those two guys were simply electric to watch on the football field. If you watch highlights of both of them, you start to see a lot of similarities in running style and just sheer playmaking ability. Yeah, there have been plenty of track stars with straight line speed, but those guys were just on another level.
