I don't think anyone is saying it is unique to Va. It's more the fact that we used to land a decent amount of the top 10 (~3 or 4 players per year) and we didn't sign any in 2016.
looks like he catches the ball around the 11 yard line at 8 seconds and crosses the plane of the endzone around 19 seconds 89 yards later. That's 89 yards in 11 seconds and he wasn't even really moving forward for that first second. And he didn't do it in a straight line. That's incredible speed. I wasn't a slouch in my prime (played soccer in HS) but I don't think I could ever cover that distance in that time in ideal conditions (running straight, uninhibited, no added weight). Wilson did it in an arc with full football pads and having to avoid guys trying to bring him down. Dude's really fast.
Aight, what's her number?
In my memory, I've never seen 1 go without a single bid, but it's certainly possible. But they have to make their money back on them. Custom helmets come from the Athletic Department's budget. One of the most common helmets I've seen in college football recently is the Riddell Speedflex. That helmet retails for $400. It will be very surprising if any helmet goes without a single bid.

That makes much more sense. Completely forgot that. Have a leg.
According to where? USNews tabs us at 21 and Duke at 28.
When did you graduate? Love seeing fellow confederates on thekeyplay
Kendall never wore a black helmet, thus there is no game worn #11 Black helmet.
Interestingly enough #11 is missing from the black helmets. I wonder if Kendall got to pre-bid on it.
In the past I've seen a lot of these go unsold. Like you said some will explode but others wont even sell. I'm just thinking with a $200-300 minimum you'd get more bids and sales. I'd be MUCH more likely to buy at that price and I feel like others would.
I'm just an engineer though so I'll quit acting like I know anything about it haha
The best part about this was it wasn't a normal kick return. It wasn't like he broke through some tackles or reversed field or anything. I've never seen a kick return paint such a perfect picture of a hole, and just sheer speed to get through. Most kick returns require some skill move like a juke, stiff arm or something but not here.
Of course he did break one pitiful arm tackle but other than that. Nothing.
Lower prices to make more money? I'm not sure I understand the logic there. You don't have to pay to bid, you just bid. Setting a minimum gives a guaranteed return, covers the cost of the helmet, which are almost $300 a piece, and allows overage for donation to Herma's Readers. With a lower starting price, the bids will still get above $500. Hell, I promise you that there will be a couple here that will go for over $1,000. Kendall's for sure will.
No sir, you don't.
I agree, unless they have another plan for unsold ones. Normally they have a lot fewer for sale and start at a lower price. With there being so many and a higher starting bid it will be interested to see what happens. I think people will most likely lay low and then try to snipe one for $500 at the end.
That was my thought when I read about that small stipend. They deserve to be paid more for as simple a reason as they are putting in significantly more hours.
I really wish these bids didn't start so high. I can't help but think they'd actually make more money lowering the prices. I'm not a business guy though so I won't argue it. But I still wish they catered to the young recent grads like myself.
Morgan won't be doing all those things. The High School he is going to has 17 members on staff including a S&C coach.
lol...woops
the crazy part is he doesn't even look like he's going his fastest...
6- You never know when the movies will come a-callin'. RUDY, RUDY, RUDY!!!!
As someone who coaches HS FB and is on the totally opposite end of the pay scale (I teach in NC, smh) I think that HS coaches do not get paid enough for the work they put in. They coach, fundraise, provide field maintenance, run the weightlifting program, and drive buses; all while teaching during the day. They are working 70-80 hrs a week during the season.
Is $111k excessive? maybe. Is a stipend paying the equivalent of $.09/hr too little? YES.
I can't speak for VA, SC, or GA, but I do know that coaching stipends in NC differ from county to county. The education piece mentioned above has nothing to do with how coaches are compensated. BTW, NC sucks in BOTH of those areas.
As someone in the same vocation as both guys, I'm happy they are able to substantially provide for their families while doing what they love.
Tell that to my friend who sank her daddy's boat one day while engaging in, well, fun and games below, after snubbing the anchor ropes too tightly up a small creek down Florida way.
With the rebrand and new uniforms coming I doubt we see any of this year's helmets again except for the ol' maroon on maroon.

I was about to post this. NFL content blocked (bastards). One of my faves.
