I thought there was a scandal that he lied about his age. The guy was good no doubt but is perfect evidence of what happens when you put a ton of pressure on players to be the next big thing

also I think it was the media starting up a hype train about something they didnt completely understand. If a kid really is that good hes being scouted by the Bayern Munichs, Barcelonas, and Real Madrids of the world. (case and point tim howard, zelalem, and even holden who I thought couldve had a great career had injuries not crushed him) He was just drafted in the MLS at a really young age and certainly had some potential but I think we claimed he was the next big thing because we wanted a face for our soccer program at the time. I think that entire situation was bungled from top to bottom.

Are there still rumors of DC United moving to northern VA? I haven't heard anything about that in a while.

Just curious if one of our best fullbacks ever who was also a walk on is still with the team as in Jarrett Ferguson? He has been around in his time in S&C at a few schools and I never heard who or if the new S&C coach keep any of Gentry's staff?

Maybe as the staff aged or the methods got stale it filtered down to a lesser intensity in all facets of the program including S&C. Or the S&C coach aging led to a lowered energy or intensity. Im not sure just food for thought. I like the idea of fresh faces and more intensity

I have a buddy on the team, and he said that its a whole new world in terms of S&C. They are running a lot more and they are lifting a lot more. If you miss a class or show up late to workouts, you are gonna be coming in to practice at 530.

Sounds extremely intense, but our team will be a hell of a lot stronger and faster.

I'm going to view it as a workout plan that went stagnant (or the players adjusted to). I do not know how customized the program was for the individuals before but I am excited about the new S&C coach. I believe I read in an interview that he plans to customize plans to the individuals where necessary.

Also a lot of this is on our players. They have nutritionists to help provide healthy snacks and meals for the players. They teach the players what they should eat.* Yet we celebrate the fact that Teller's idea of sports nutrition is Taco Bell.** The players can workout all they want but without proper nutrition they won't see the full results of their training.

*I learned this first hand from Cols Colas while he was yelling at me in line at Deitrick to "taste the chicken!" because he wanted to know if he should choose it as his protein for lunch. He showed me that everything in Deitrick had a color next to the name, which made it easy for the players to select foods on the nutrition plan.

**I acknowledge that everyone has a vice or needs to cheat every once in a while. I still remember standing behind MV7 in Kroger around midnight while he bought whole milk and Ho Hos.
