Thanks for posting, that demonstrates our lack of elite talent on the roster. Two of the top four are recovering from ACL injuries and our #1 is a "conditioning project." Big dropoff between 4 an 5, not many think of Johnson or Fullwood as elite talents.

We have had single recruiting classes in the past with more elite talent than that. We have a long way to go. I bet if you list out Tennessee or Notre Dames top talent like this, Settle isn't in their top 10. Maybe UNC and Miami as well.

Well, if you are able to attract the elite college ready players who are the cream of the crop, I guess that makes sense. I also see the sense in redshirting the players who don't end up playing so everyone is taking the whole thing seriously all year long. But the redshirt in and of itself isn't a bad thing. Considering the relative scarcity of those elite ready to go guys, player development may be a necessity for the rest of the college scene, and redshirting can be an important part of that development.

I won't say that winning cures all ills (it doesn't) but it certainly can't hurt us. I happen to believe that winning on Saturdays is the most important and achievable short-term goal right now. Winning will make everything else much easier. If we can win 8-9 games this year and then get into the double digits in 2017 that will do wonders for us in many many ways. It will make Whit's job of raising money easier. That should then result in the opportunity for improved resources which could lead to even more goodies for us. Winning isn't the only thing that needs to be done to grow and improve this program but it is the easiest way to make that mountain we have to climb a little less daunting.

I also believe that with our schedule this team can win the games we need to win over the next couple of years. The right coaching staff and approach can make this 6-7 win team a 8-10 win team in a year or 2. That is paramount. It may sound silly to say but winning games on Saturdays should absolutely be the main focus of the coaching staff if they want to take this program to new heights. Win on Saturday and everything else will fall into place much more easily.

Something something Well I slept with your wife
Something something something dark side.

I couldnt go on with the rest of my day if I didnt finish it...well played.

Player Completion % RYDS/G PYDS/G P TD /G R TD/G INT/G
Jerod Evans 0.624 51.75 395.5 4.75 0.5 0.375
Dwayne Lawson 0.587 78.81 222.18 1.9 1.54 0.27
Brenden Motley 0.561 37.3 192.5 1.83 0.5 1.17
Josh Jackson 0.6 42.72 161.82 1.82 0.72 0.27

Just thought I would throw this out there.....its the most recent relevant statistics for each of the incoming quarterbacks by a per game basis, thought it was interesting.

Something to note: Almost all of Jackson's stats were only in the first half as he was taken out of the majority of second half blowouts.

Also, and more importantly, these stats are completely irrelevant and mean absolutely nothing but rather I just wanted an excuse to follow my main man hokie07ME's table strategy.

LETS. GET. TROPICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Im HYPED by this newly discovered table class.

I mean if he wants to run LOLUVA's football program like a pee-wee league team....then hey more power to him. I'm all for it. I have no problem if this drives their football program further into the ground and allows for another 12 years of dominance.

don't go bringing your facts into this. Seriously, what is it with kids today? Everyone knows jokes about FSU keeping players out of jail are sacrosanct. What's next, UVa actually has people go to their spring games? Sam Rogers is mortal? Bucky's stopped growing?

jk jk have a leg

even though we weren't expected to get this guy, the fact that commits keep choosing unc is troubling. I don't mind losing guys we offered to sec schools or the like, but losing them to fellow acc schools hurt quite a bit. The fact that unc had a great season last year and is pulling in guys away from us shows me that we have to get our act together and put W's on the record, otherwise this trend is going to continue considerably, punching us in the gut every recruiting period. Gotta pick it up in every facet of our program. And ASAP.

"I don't plan to redshirt," he said. "We're going to play freshmen as they come in. ... I like players that come in right from the beginning expecting to play, competing to play and having the mindset to contribute."

Can't find it, but I once read an article about how Pete Carroll sort of pioneered this approach at USC. His thought process was that he wanted to avoid recruiting players who had to redshirt. Anytime they did redshirt a player, it was a failure by the coaching staff to prepare that player for college football.

Female out of state full pay engineer. That's admission's perfect storm. Full pay, helps the gender ratio in a exceedingly male heavy department.

Absolutely agree.

Another mystery about Keepers....how in the hell did she get into Tech with a 3.29, especially in engineering?

Agreed - Was he a good judge of talent, or did Bud look at the tape and say get this guy? Was he a good recruiter, or were players coming to DBU to play for Bud? His chance of riding Bud's coattails to DC when Bud moved to HC took a big hit this year, and VT is no longer the hire from within program it used to be. He has a chance to go to a highly respected conference, with a lot of skilled players, in his home state, where he gets paid more, and prove that he is worth the pay. It also give him another prospective on Defense from another highly regarded DC. I think his chances of eventually being our DC, or someone else's, go way up after this move if he does well, than if he stays under Bud. (and I liked the hat)
