I was so paranoid about making this mistake as I wrote up my notes that I triple checked it and pulled up the roster to be sure I was spelling everyone's name correctly.

You can always resell, and would likely not lose too much

I wouldn't count on this. Prices for the games last year were nowhere near making back $350 over the course of the season unless you sold your OSU ticket. Without that big game ticket this year, it'll take a helluva season to make your later tickets worth selling.

-He talked very highly of Sam Rodgers and what he brings to the table, and reminds him of one of the guys he had at Memphis (name is escaping me). Indicated they are looking to take advantage of his well rounded skill set handing him the ball, blocking and receiving.

Follow up: Who the heck is this Sam Rodgers guy and if he's such a great player, why are we only hearing about him now?

Better to have them and not need them, than to need them and not have them. You can always resell, and would likely not lose too much, especially if VT does well next year and more people want to come to the games

I see where youre coming from but I disagree on the premise slightly, the recruiting rankings may have gotten better. But kids develop at different times and ages, thats always going to be the case.

I said it before, recruiting rankings are solely where the kid is currently, right now against high school competition, which is a great measuring stick, no doubt. I feel like coaches have a greater incentive to establish and feel for where these kids might be 2-3, 4 years down the line. Recruiting rankings dont have that incentive to speculate where a kid MIGHT grow into, intangibles are not necessarily taken into account for kids who arent physically dominant in High School...

There will ALWAYS be gems, ALWAYS, I dont care how great the system becomes, the premise of 17-18 year old young men will always have late bloomers, kids who become different beasts with a college level weight program, kids who develop with improved coaching, kids who change positions and find their stride.

Not trying to be a dick, but unformated data makes my head hurt.

Hey Joe, any way to add a handy-dandy table button up there with the image, link, etc buttons?

SCHOOL CONF. FB RECRUITING $ %CHANGE '09-'13 $ PER WIN
Clemson ACC $617,524 35.90% $52,702
Florida State ACC $425,796 50.60% $34,219
Georgia Tech ACC $746,590 -8.20% $95,925
Louisville ACC $208,778 -23.80% $25,176
North Carolina ACC $539,392 3.20% $76,074
North Carolina State ACC $514,380 44.90% $53,291
Virginia ACC $299,730 -4.20% $59,604
Virginia Tech ACC $353,983 98.70% $30,800

The other thing I find fucked up is that these two college students had (it seemed) an opportunity to do something REALLY good by reaching out to befriend and be an encouragement to young teen that had to deal with cancer most of her life, then they use the outlet to manipulate, take advantage and commit one of the most demonic acts imaginable. I'm done. Lock 'em up. Let 'em rot.

One, it's not clear he had an offer at this stage of the game

Two, kids are not required to sign a LOI on signing day. I don't know why more kids -- particularly the elite kids -- don't take a pass if they're not 100% certain. Coaches will make room for elite players at any time.

He was probably referring to the fact that Hokies D has been among the worst in the nation at giving up explosive plays for the last several years.

I think this is reasonable. I would like to have hopes of an ACC Title game run into late October or even November. I'm not necessarily expecting that though. We have to be realistic. There are major changes taking place this off season which will throw everyone out of whack a bit. We don't have an established QB. I still have concerns with our O-line. Our DL and LB are potential huge liabilities and we just lost our ace DB coach. Bud has his work cut out for him. I'm not expecting much from our defense this year. I think with the cards Bud has been dealt, if he manages to field a top 40 defensive unit that may be one of the best coaching jobs he's ever done.

On the other side of the ball I think we're all foolish to expect drastic changes immediately. It took Fuente a couple of tough years at Memphis before the offense was really moving. Yeah, we have more talent than he started with in Memphis, but it's still going to take some building. I'd be SHOCKED if our offense gets into the top 50 this year. We're going to have a rocky couple of seasons. Our schedule is somewhat forgiving (with UT, ND, UNC, and Miami being the only really worrisome opponents) so I think anywhere from 6-8 wins is possible for this team.

We all want to win Nat'ys every year and recruit all the 5* players in the country but we need to start small. If we bite off more than we can chew we'll be chewing forever. Let's take it a step at a time. Realistic goals for the next 2-3 years should be to compete for the Coastal title and gradually improve in every category each year.

I 100% agree, I think were on the same wave-length.

We really didnt miss out on that many kids who Fuente had a chance to come in and recruit.

JaQuan Bailey was a hit, but he went to play with his brother, we couldnt afford to offer him a scholarship too, that one doesnt seem to sting as bad.
We still picked up 3 of the top 10 in state kids. Honestly, I feel like, we had a really legitimate shot at Yulee but he didnt qualify academically, I dont know if that gets a knock on the coaching staff.
And Fuente came in and added much needed depth in areas where we really needed it, and the NUMBER 1 JUCO QUARTERBACK. I feel like people just wanted something to be mad about, we offered kids late who were already committed; they dont flip and its all of a sudden, new staff cant recruit...come ' on. Its like offering a kid ON signing day and then being mad he doesnt choose us? Pine? Pine was committed to Pitt since June. Maybe its a fault we didnt really push for some of them until late.

I think next year and 2018 are when we can start holding the staff 'accountable'. All I can say is Im really excited for the spring game and Im excited to see who they bring in to replace Gray.

6 of the top 10 Florida players and 11 of the top 20 went out of state. All four of the state's 5 star players went out of state.

It's not unique to Virginia. Get over it.
