Very well said; I totally agree.
Just a cloud of swamp ass and nut fog.
Very good question, I would also like to know what that was all about....
Exactly, this one as much of a talent I think the kid could be, didnt seem to hurt as bad.
I feel like I could see him at Tech getting buried in the depth chart or not finding a home like Joel Caleb.
Im no evaluater, by any means, but I think he should have tried for QB somewhere, I saw flashes of Tyrod,
I'm not googling death train again. You guys can use your imagination.
[Insert scary looking train image here]
I meant these two guys, I probably should have been more specific.
Actually I'm thrilled we're in a position to flip anyone. Obviously I expect more out of next year's class, but I'm willing to be patient given our turnover.
No big deal!!! Good teams and coaches do not act like the sky is falling because they did not get one recruit from Florida. If they did they have no business coaching the Hokies. Press release "we are excited about the players we signed today, we missed out on a few we tried to get late, but in any event we have the players with the tools and character to win ACC championships and succeed on and off the field. " We are Hokie fans quit moping about players we didn't get. There are some Isiah Ford's, Cody Grimm's, Dadi Nicholas' in this next group.
Out of our WRs we have signed, who do you see potentially being able to pull an Isaiah Ford and start immediately?
Or 45 degrees from horizontal
Beckett's size isn't a problem?
John Calipari lost a national championship the same way.
Can't fault that logic, get the wife out on the hardwood.
French, whatever happened to that Connor Odonell kid? I think he was supposed to be a part of last years class. It sounded like the fans believed VT/Shane Beamer had been catfished by a recruit. Did he wind up at a D1 school?
Look at it this way, 2 months of Coach Fuentes and Co out recruiting and they almost pulled guys away from committed schools they pledged. Besides not getting these two I see good things down the road. UNC just made the ACC Championship and we are struggling and we still almost pulled them away. I really like to see what this staff can do with a full year of recruiting/coaching! Good things to come!
They did flip a guy and still waiting on Carter.

This is macro, but it's worth watching. Fuente can't be judged by literally a few weeks of recruiting these kids, but at the same time, the staff construction was clearly not focused on recruiting. We could have brought in a Beatty or West or (my choice) John Papuchis from UNC and we didn't (or couldn't). We decided it was better to have unproven recruiters who Fuente trusted to run his offense. Maybe those guys become good recruiters, because every good recruiter on a staff was once unproven.
On the defensive side, I've been of the opinion that it was Frank's age that was keeping us from closing well the last few years but we still have the same glaring criticism we have had for 15 years about how Foster's defense prepares kids for the NFL. Wiles is a hit/miss recruiter. We need to see how Scott fits in. There is a very real chance that our problems going back to Stephone Anthony about closing elite talent on defense will persist (and Virginia is loaded with elite defensive talent next year).
Fuente has built his reputation on finding guys that fit his system and/or being great at player development. But that still takes some time, we likely won't reach our optimum offensive performance in 2016. Another recruiting season will come and go basically this summer, Fuente will be selling potential and not results. I don't know what you can take from the results of today, but there should be an appreciation that recruiting under the new staff is still a concern.
According to Shakira, hips don't lie.
(Just havin some fun...good question)
Even with the defensive continuity I'm willing to give the coaching staff a pass on this year. I also wouldn't call it a miss just because we didn't flip a commit.
Where do you see Hewitt fitting? Itll be interesting to see how quick he looks compared with the rest of the DLine.
Hewitt is in.
Agreed.
Tyree Rodgers, offense or defense? Excellent change of direction and start/stop would be electric in passing game, but translates extremely well to corner as well, but I haven't gotten a look at his hips from the film I've seen, Thoughts?
We need linebackers. We have 2 more so far. French, what do you think of them (Belmar and Beckett)?
I see your Belmar comment above, just thought I'd consolidate the question.
According to 247, Josh Bailey did not have an offer from VT. It is pretty simple, either the VT coaching staff didn't think they needed Josh as part of getting Jaquan, or they didn't think Jaquan was worth a second scholarship slot with the addition of offering Josh. I am fine with the latter if that is how they evaluated Jaquan, but if they didn't see the writing on the wall that they "needed" to offer Josh in order to get the prize they really wanted/needed then that was a failure on their part. I am betting they took the mentality that Jaquan was a good player and at a need position but that they weren't going to over extend to get him.

Except these guys are defensive players and our defensive coaching staff remained largely intact, especially for the major pieces.
