I'd say LeDay started out sluggish as well, he just happened to have a few wild shots fall early. I'm not pinning the loss on him by any means, it's just noteworthy that he's the player Tech can least afford a bad game from. Too big a role.
As for Hudson, your guess is as good as mine. He directly contributes to their success when he's on (taking the ball to the basket, active hands in passing lanes on defense) but when he's off he's the portrait of their problems (wild drives, losing their guys off ball).

the pig pen is as nice as the weather is when you eat there. Though, somehow it seems to trap street smells so that's a drawback. Also, the furniture seemed to be whatever they found on the side of the road for junk day last time I was there (last October). You have to bring out an armful of sauces/paper towels since they don't keep any outside. Then you have to take them back in when you're done. None of this matters at all if you get to eat good BBQ outside on a beautiful day...

starters or 6th man does not constitute an all*star. atleast not in this case where we are talking about how watered down the pro bowl is.
I should note that this was the final season where Jim Cavanaugh and Billy Hite were on staff. Shane Beamer and Cornell Brown were brought on board shortly after signing day in February of 2011. Looking at how recruiting tapered off for a few years, you can see why, although the moves didn't have quite the effect Tech hoped.
Hite mailed in recruiting long before he retired, and Frank should have never of let that happen. As I understand it, Cav was reluctant to be put out to pasture, and he was a solid recruiter.

I dunno. I read that the alternates don't get the contract incentives for being chosen for the Pro Bowl. Basically, you have to be on the initial list.

I think defensive players also got snaps on offense. I didn't watch the game but I heard Richard Sherman took a sweep and was tackled by his teammate. I think the point was to let the guys have some fun really.
I would imagine with the amount of money being spent on this event, the factor of safety in the design will be fairly large.

Kids change their mind, situations change, they might feel pressure from other sources (family, coaches, friends), etc. It's sucks for the team, but it's doesn't mean they have poor morals or are lying
Let's say Jim has been dreaming about playing at VT his entire life, but for whatever reason we tell him we likely won't have space. He then commits to some other school. Suddenly, one of our players flips on us, or gets in legal trouble, etc - whatever the case, there is now an opportunity for Jim to be on our team. Is this kid supposed to throw away his life long dream because he 'committed' elsewhere? Does this make him a bad person?
I agree I wouldn't 'commit' until I was 100% sure about my choice - but some kids might think they are 100% sure when they are not, they may have doubts come up later, etc.
Kind of OT but pro-bowl related: what was the deal with certain offensive players getting reps on defense late in the game? I was probably in the minority of people who were watching towards the end of the pro-bowl as it was (only tuned in late in my defense), but I was not expecting to see OBJ getting reps at safety.
If the lack of tackling doesn't make it seem pointless enough, this made it seem even more laughable. Did this happen in past years and I just never noticed?
We don't have the budget to have an Alabama, Ohio State or Texas sized support staff, but Babcock told Koma in his interview he would give Fuente time to evaluate his staff and would add positions Fuente deemed necessary.
In the 20-minute meeting, Babcock said he came away "impressed" with all of Fuente's new hires, even though he hasn't known them very long. But what remains up in the air is whether Fuente will look to add more support staff to the program beyond the two new recruiting positions Babcock added when he arrived in 2014.
"We talked some about that, he's gonna evaluate things and let us know," Babcock said. "And, shoot, within reason, if it's really gonna help us, yeah, we'll do all we can to find a way to do it."

Also, I believe there's diminishing returns when it comes to throwing more and more bodies at recruiting. The message, product, branding, and culture all have to be right too.
I know the design details matter and it will have a lot of safety margin, but that looks a bit scary - and you can't account for every possibility. What if there is a major front sweep in with straight or circulating fast winds, combined with additional weight from precipitation, etc.? Hopefully all of those types of loads play a part in the design AND implementation.
My concern is for all events where that is present, not just our game.

It is crazy to see how many kids come to tech that don't ever see the field/pan out. Sometimes we forget that they are just college kids that happened to be good at football.
I was at this game and it was quite disappointing. We just couldn't score. Allen held the team together with some great three-point shooting, but it started to become apparent that he was was pushing a lot because the other guys couldn't get open and make jumpers. So many three pointers off the mark. Pitt was happy to take 15-foot and three point shots all night and didn't really need to go inside. The two 3-pointers in a row Pitt made early in the second half to again take a 9-10 point lead felt like they basically broke us. It was also frustrating to watch us fumble away some great steals and then also get called for fouls fighting for the loose ball. However, the most annoying thing all night was the Pitt student section starting a 5-second countdown every time we had the ball with 10 seconds still left in our possession. I might give them credit for good home court trickeration except for that it really was damn obnoxious to have going on all game. It's a fine line between crafty and obnoxious.
