I work for a software company, so Herndon/Reston has become like a miniature Silicon Valley for the east. A lot of my coworkers live in Arlington, Tysons, DC, Alexandria, but just about an equal number live in Leesburg, Chantilly, or Centreville. It's an easy area to commute to given the reverse flow if you live in DC.
Honestly, since they ditched the Americana station a few years back, I can't find a favorite. I discovered and enjoyed an awful lot of great music there that just doesn't fit anywhere else. It was like when your best ever for life dog dies. You still have a couple of really good dogs, but it just isn't the same.

eshiben5 and DC area residents - I am in a tight spot and need some advice. Here's the deal. My wife got us tickets to the Caps game Friday night as a Christmas gift. Great seats a couple rows off the ice. We have our hotel booked for Friday night within walking distance to the Verizon Center. I have accepted that we will likely need to stay more than one night. My question - if we leave Richmond by noon Friday do we have any chance or making it for a 7 pm game? Or, should we leave first thing tomorrow morning or even tonight?
I wish the Caps would just reschedule the game, but I know that is easier said than done. The tickets were extremely expensive (like could have almost renewed our VT season tickets expensive) and we are trying to figure out how to make this work since I refuse to eat the cost of the tickets. Hotels and parking near the Verizon Center aren't cheap so I am trying to avoid having a nice one night trip balloon into a mini vacation stuck in a hotel staring out the window.
I drive a 4wd full size truck and I am comfortable driving in the snow. However, based on the screenshot above from 1 inch of snow it looks like I would be better off walking...
Two things for me:
1) Heading into ACC play, I wasn't sure we could grind out even one ACC win. I knew we could be competitive in a few games, but I wasn't sure we could actually win a game. This young team is growing a ton right in front of us, and it's fun to watch win or lose.
2) During the first couple of ACC games, I was really frustrated with the play of Zach LeDay. Sure he has always played really hard, but it seemed like he wasn't making great decisions agains "superior" ACC big men and thus turning the ball over. Boy am I pleasantly surprised to see him continue to work and find ways to score. It might not always look pretty, but the kid can ball and the kid is a straight hustler on the court.

Glad to hear others are questionnig the officiating. I was thinking I was overly bias. There were some call in the final 2 minutes favoring the Irish that seemed to kill our momentum
I've found that XM Chill (53) is a really underrated channel for when you're on a long road trip and tired of the same old same old. It's usually instrumental downtempo stuff that's easier on the brain when you've been driving for 6 hours and need to detox your ears.
Having seen every minute of every game, I think Pierce could hold his own. He would not be bludgeoned in the post like Henry..
Probably mentioned on the other thread, but did you people see that ultra loluva'hoo? swaying song singing performance at game's end? Creeeeeepy, even without the resemblance to the uvers. Creeeeepy stuff that. Just another reason to hate on Notre and their skanky Dames. Wife says I need to watch Rudy again to regain my wah.

I went for a run yesterday evening and caught the very beginning of the snow. I was amazed (although I know I shouldn't be) at how quickly traffic backed up. Crossed the bridge from Rosslyn into Georgetown before the snow: normal traffic. Came back the other way as the snow started: traffic snarled up real quick.
Those snow flurries, they'll get after ya.
I will always cherish that 4 TD Trey Edmunds scored against then # 14 Miami . Good luck with UMD but he's a Hokie for life!
I expected us to lose by double digits, so even though we gave up a lead, I'm still not dissatisfied with this.

I've been up here for 13+ years now and at least 5 of that was 'reverse commuting' out to Herndon from Crystal City. The beltway bandits have all put up office buildings in Reston, Herndon plus a number of office campuses along 28. A lot of times it is just a matter of where the client is based out of.
Your post sums up my feelings about things quite well. I do think, though, that so far, the tough losses and smackdowns haven't seemed to hurt morale. This team seems to grow from each experience. They just don't seem to be negatively affected to the point of carry over. I really think that's Buzz's influence, and every game I watch just makes me appreciate him even more. I hope the UNC game gets played Sunday, I hope the hometown crowd shows up in droves, and I hope they're ready for what could be a really entertaining game. Wish I could be there.
