This is an important metric, we all wish to see our athletic program achieve its best across the board. We should strive to be in the top 25.
Which sports need to improve to get us there? Mens and Women's basketball both seem to be trending in the right direction. Soccer, tennis, wrestling, track/field, softball, swimming/diving seem to be improving. Need football to be the bell-cow as it has been in the past and we need baseball to stop bringing us down.
Highlights are SOPHOMORE season. No idea how much he has improved this year!
Sorta like this?

I love it that he cancelled the visit to UGA. I really find it a commitment as pretty worthless when they commit and then take a bunch of visits. If you commit, you commit.....by the definition of the word, you can't commit and still be looking around.
commitment.
1.the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.:
synonyms: dedication devotion allegiance loyalty faithfulness
2. an engagement or obligation that restricts freedom of action:
Strange eye color but wish granted!

that stiff arm at 2:10.. lol the other guy just looked defeated afterwards laying on the ground like "I give up."
sentence structure, it'll get after ya!
Looks like the emphasis for this kid is "potential". He shows speed and size, both are crucial to success at the P5 level, but his fundamentals are lacking at times. This could be a huge "diamond in the rough" for this class, tho.
Perfect way to start my Friday!

# | Virginia Tech Football Recruiting: Punter Marshall Long Commits to the Hokies ...at who?
I didn't realize anyone else was able to possess it?
Went to check our RPI and noticed it's at 119. Anyone know why it has barely even budged after wins over nc state, wake, and a top 10 RPI uva?
Well done.
Awesome! And cancels UGA visit. Mr. Shibest tips hat and winks at new UGA special teams coach...

# | BUZZKETBALL CENTRAL: Wake Forest Demon Deacons (10-5, 1-2) at Virginia Tech Hokies (10-6, 2-1) 9 PM RSN/ESPN3 The biggest problem with doing that for the UNC game is usually they end up having a decent showing of fans, or at least they used to. So it will be splattered with baby blue. We might have had a chance at a better showing for Louisville, but gotta jump on the hype train while it's rolling.

Thanks for this write-up! Outside of the football and basketball games, checking out tennis matches was next on my list as an undergrad. At the time, there wasn't much buzz around the team, so I hope they see higher attendance now.
To anyone still around to check out matches I highly recommend it! Only note- there are appropriate and inappropriate times to clap/cheer/make noise as a tennis spectator. Learn them to keep from being 'that guy'
I've always thought that UVA was a good example of a place where a guy with stars is going to be a shoo-in, but I've always thought that VT at least has paid lip service to the notion of competition and practice performance dictating playing time. Coach Beamer's famous loyalty notwithstanding, I feel like we've generally done that.
I don't think there should be any guys on the team who are shoe-ins. They should all put in the work if they want to see the field. That's what has disappointed me about our receiving corps the past few years. Ford and Phillips put in the work to improve themselves, that's why they were on the field. I understand if other guys did the work but the coaches don't think they have the skill to be out there. It happens. But nobody should be chosen as "the guy" at a position. It's not fair to them because it takes away their need to improve themselves. And it dang sure isn't fair to the guys behind them who are doing the work and becoming better players.

Isn't that how people get in trouble these days?
Still chafing over that, are we? The press did whine about that, didn't they? I understand their frustration, effectively making them work a little overtime, delaying their homecoming, etc. I really do, but to make something out of it other than a mention was a big mistake. Really made them out to be crybabies. For Buzz, the game wasn't over until he'd finished coaching it. That's his real job.

How hard is it going to be to stay in top 25 of this contest? PAC 12 and Big 10 schools sponsor a lot more sports than VT. Just a numbers game it's going to be hard to crack it every year.
