'long' DB's are good for the inside leverage trail technique we employ in man coverage on a regular basis. 'Long' doesn't necessarily require you to be tall, it essentially means long arms. Usually, this will lead to taller db's being recruited but not a requirement.
Kinda sounds like the Boston College AD's philosophy...which has worked out really well for them.
Dang, I'll have to watch his highlight reel when I get home.

I was so exhausted after that! I needed to sit down for a few series after that.

Here is my take on the uni's from an old retired guy. Some have been unique, some have been down right awful (all orange) and some have been really really cool (Boise St.). But the bottom line is, I don't care what you wear if you win the game and if you win the game you will sell more uni's, make more money from concessions and have more people in the stands. So just win baby and the rest will take care of itself. Now I will get off my soapbox and back to my Bailey's and coffee.
I'm still a little bit pissed off that he didn't make Carolina's roster. But such is life, kinda hard to question that coaching staff at this moment.
We'll get that fixed when 'cruitin turns around.
don't quote me on this but in my small circle of people i'm hearing VT/Bud/TG want to try Quillen on the defensive side.

Ouch, that sounds a little harsh but I can understand I guess. I would think that the coaches would ask the athletes to only commit if they know they are sure. Saying something like "We would love to have you on our team and know you can contribute and be successful here. That being said if you would like to look at all your options we understand and encourage you to do so so you can make the best decision for yourself. All I ask is that if you decide to commit to us that you do so once you are 100% that you want to be here."

Until Whit, Sands and new fundraisers came in there was no connections between the alumni and the Hokie Club. No sharing of information, no sharing of names, address nothing. That is about to change.

I know parents of some of the current OL players - they love Coach Scott and talk about his commitment to making sure each kid gets as much support / publicity to make sure they get college attention - whether its D1 or D3.
Apparently Laborn had zero college offers after his sophomore season at Cox HS because none of the HS staff was ringing phones and helping cut tapes to send out. During the summer before his junior year (after transferring to OL), he got several offers from FBS and a few D1 just because the OL staff helped kick-off the process.
Parent have told me that Coach Scott will get your kids into college, likely with some financial support even if he's a role player on Special Teams - that's why people are moving into the district to play for this guy.
