There's no room for truth in Knoxville.
Yeah I told a UT friend of mine this and he was absolutely pissed off at me for a day.
winning the SEC East is about as hard as winning the ACC Atlantic. For perspective
My guess would be a bible. He is a very devout Christian.
Really hoping this cold snap will move the fish from the northern regions down through the middle of the Bay. Looking forward to a few more weeks of catch and release action.
Edit: Talking about stripers.
I don't have the hybrid version (because towing anything on the hybrid voids your warranty, and it's my AdventureMobile), but the Crosstrek is an excellent car. If you get the all-weather mats, the plastic/rubber crap even goes up the back of the fold-down seats, so your whole rear compartment is water resistant. The non-hybrid has pretty good gas mileage, too (even with the SkyBox on top, I still got 30+ highway on our last ski trip). Add snow tires and that thing is unstoppable.
(And yeah, it's basically an Impreza with 8 extra inches of clearance. I had a difficult time getting out of the one Impreza I sat in, but zero issues with the Crosstrek. Plus that just helps it blast through the snow that much easier.)
I just don't necessarily understand why that can't be moved to accommodate the playoff. The Rose Bowl makes sense to me because it's tied to the Tournament of Roses Parade which has been held every January 1 for about a century now. The Sugar Bowl doesn't, to my knowledge, tie in to another event like that.
Because the Sugar Bowl signed a contract (before the playoff could) to be played on NYD. Why would they want to reschedule AND take a large financial loss?
Tennessee fans are back to thinking they're on the road to the national championship again (like they've been thinking for the last 8 years) because they won their bowl game.
Meh, they've looked good closing out the season. They do kind remind me a lot of FSU 2011 - just the way they're building talent and progressing year to year. I think they win the SEC East next year, and get a bid to an NY6 bowl.
I am going to miss him as well. Just doesn't seem right for a Beamer
to not be at VT....best of luck to him and his family. I am sure moving from
VT will not be an easy thing for him to do but he will always be a Hokie.
Also studied journalilsm and communication at VT, worked at WVEC in Norfolk for a year before my current job, and I agree with your sentiment 100%. Both at VT and at the station, the onus was always on you as the reporter to get the facts, video, etc exactly as you stated. You don't just get fed quotes and stories by the public. Definitely agree on the repetitiveness of tv news/ journalism. From the types of stories, to blocking parts of shows, to format, most of the material is the same. I'm kind of worried that one day it'll all become "hot takez" for the sake of viewership and advertising money, and that solid intellectual reporting will drop off significantly.
Oh, I didn't know they'd made that a rule. I only knew I was seeing a lot less of it (and thank goodness for that, I'm not a fan)
The cost savings is not having to do anything but rotate your tires. I believe Tesla guarantees their batteries for 10 years, and I believe the technology will continue to improve where they aren't so expensive to replace
Tesla did have plans for a battery 'swap' - you'd pull up to a station, and for $80 they'd switch out your battery in 5 minutes (basically the cost and time for a very large tank of gas), but they quickly determined that there's just not enough people driving Tesla's at the moment for it to be cost effective.
I realize that they're locked in. When VT played FSU in the Sugar for the BCS championship back in 2000, the game was on the the 4th, if I'm not mistaken.
If the Sugar and Rose are going to be locked in to Jan 1, I still don't see any reason why the semifinals can't be played on the same day anyway. If you're going to use a phrase like the "New Years Six" to describe the premeire bowls, why not play them all on New Years Day?
Another key lure for me for trout, reds, and snook (I've even caught pompano and big jacks on it) when I lived on VIP Island in Grant, FL (look it up - fishing heaven!) was the MirrOdine XL27MR Suspending Twitchbait in the 808 color scheme. I would use this on my snook rod (Star Stellar Lite 7 ft Medium Heavy spinning Rod with a Shimano 3500 Baitrunner) with 20# powerpro and 30# flourocarbon leader without a swivel. That setup was deadly!
Had a lot of blackened fish for dinner on that rig!
I'm not sure that color works as good in the clearer blue water of the FL west coast beaches vs the Indian River in East CFL, but I also used that rig in the keys backwater and around Sebastian Inlet with similar success. The 27MR size can be cast a long way with a smaller diameter braid to sneak up on fish. PowerPro is great around docks and mangrove as well and can survive a tough snook battle (their mouth and gill plate can shred your line!).
Good Luck. Tight Lines!
I still don't understand what was wrong with putting the playoff games on Saturday 1/2? I am yet to get an explanation for this one from anybody.
I think this is probably an area of sharp differences in personal preference. I have gone out and celebrated NYE maybe twice in my entire life. I much prefer to stay in with friends rather than go out and deal with all the chaos.
My theory was that this was largely depended on age (hence my question), but I may be very mistaken
Looking back, I really wish I had include a 'would you have watched the game if it was on NYD question'
I've seen it a lot on this site during the past few football seasons. It really became prevalent when the potential firing of Beamer was trending and again when Bud said they didn't need a culture change. I never really voiced my opinion, but others did after stupid losses and saw a lot of backlash because of it.
you sure this isn't ultimate frisbee?
Only surprise is that you dont have more of Chris Clarke mugging. He was doing all sorts of faces and dances over there on the bench in this one.
I was skiing over New Year's. Had planned to catch the end of the Clemson game and watch the Bama/MSU game after getting back from the slopes, but the place we stayed didn't have a TV and the brewery we went to for dinner also didn't have TVs... *sigh* Oh well, seems neither game was all that interesting anyways... I'm definitely watching the Championship game, though!
is that the case? I thought the general consensus has always been that if the team comes out flat that's a poor reflection of leadership from the coaching staff. Am I wrong on that?
How come this applies to basketball, but when it is said about Frank & Bud it is met with strong disapproval by the masses?
Just wonderin'....
That was the one. As soon as I saw that I said:
Seth is sharing the rock! Behold, hallelelujah!
Small steps required to change a bad habit. Progress for sure.
I just picked them up! Looking like it will storm right now. Will hopefully report back with good news once the weather calms down

yeah, well, truth hurts
ECU, who beat us and finished 5-7, were one play away from winning the SEC East...
