"I don't think I'm necessarily the easiest guy in the world to play for. I don't think I'm necessarily the easiest guy in the world to work with,"

At least he knows himself. He may live in his own little bubble the majority of the time, but he cares about the kids.

Also, Joey and/or Mark, how would you rate that pre-game meal? And thank you for not being one of the idiots that kept me there til 1am.

In the video? It's the post-game stats report that the basketball support staff puts together during a game, very detailed and useful, but not sure if its available to the public. The coaches and media get them at halftime and after the game.

I like the survey, and appreciated the number of options.

As for the general discussion regarding the playoff scheduling and viewership/ratings, I think the concern is somewhat overblown. Certainly, those who chose/had to work on NYE didn't have the option of watching all of the Clemson/Oklahoma game, but I think Hancock is at least partially correct in asserting that the ratings don't necessarily indicate such a steep drop in viewership. (although quantifying that in a way satisfying to advertisers is not easy) I watched most of both games, but not at my own home. I was at my in-laws for the early game and at a NYE party with some friends of Mrs. Brick for the later game. While a lot fewer TV's were clearly tuned into the game, I strongly suspect that there were a lot more viewers per TV than average, due to New Years Eve parties/gatherings.

Also, I completely understand why the Rose Bowl needs to continue to happen on Jan 1. It's tied to the annual parade. What I don't understand is why the other Playoff Bowls can't happen on the same day too. If the problem is too many games on the same day hurting ratings, I don't see why some of the other Jan 1 bowls can't move to Dec 31 to accomodate the schedule.

Yeah but the 500+ comments is getting a little cumbersome to load and keep sifting through, would be great if someone had the time to create a new one with the current commitments and maybe an offer list or target list in the body as well.

I think it does work work that day. The kids in the floor probably needed to hear that they were his #1 priority. Taking the time to tell the media he was going to be a bit seems like its answering a phone call while arguing with your wife.... Doesn't work very well.

I don't see the two sides finding a consensus on this. Those on one side agree it wasn't handled smoothly, but we all agree Bitter is all kinds of butthurt and Berman is a cry baby.

Other side agrees is wasn't handled smoothly, and doesn't seem to understand the psyche is 19-20 year old boys is a fragile thing and needed to be addressed.

i was going to post a separate topic on this, but here is a pretty good summary and review of all of the 40 bowl games played so far from worst, to best.

You may remember that Tulsa vs. Virginia Tech was ranked #38 before the bowl game. It seems that CBS enjoyed our prolific offense in Coach Beamer's final game and upped us to #5.

At this point, anything else is really icing on the cake. We've already exceeded expectations x1000 in these first 2 conference games. IT FEELS SO GOOD!

I believe Henry was responsible for stopping the final shot more than LeDay was. LeDay was lucky a foul wasn't called on him on that shot. That said what a great game I couldn't be prouder of our boys.

like he knew exactly where he was going

It's because he did. The scouting report the assistants put together was amazing for this game, because UVA never really strayed from what they always do. It was just like Bud's D, read your key and hit the right spot.

During my senior design project at VT we worked on designing a scram jet engine along side some UVA engineers. UVAs task was to image ways to bring it back to the ground. They provided some colorful power points illustrating some creative ideas. We designed a rocket engine. VT is far from a backup to UVA.

Looking at the whole situation Bitter and Berman seem to be upset they were told they are third in line. Should buzz maybe have sent a word out, yes, but he is obviously very in tune with his team. He knew that after the WV game they need some serious soul searching. Who knows what was spoken, but it worked. Then Buzz told the media, your third in line, sorry but I did what I felt was needed.
They aren't used to that, Bitter has probably continually seen his reads drop over the past few months, and Berman is dropping to irrelevancy.

I could be wrong, but wasn't Greenberg's "toxic relationships" more with boosters, alumni and some in the athletic department? I don't remember it being a media issue.

You lost me when your reply to my post about cost savings includes BMW and Tesla.

Seriously though, I get that there are many different reasons an electric car can be appealing, it just doesn't appeal to me and my circumstances.

Just returned home late last night from Charleston. Spent three days on the water over a six day partying/fishing trip, two on my skiff and Sunday on a friend of mine's boat who happens to be a captain. NYE and Saturday I fished with friends in a back bay area off of Mount Pleasant that has been producing tons of fish. We got maybe one bite in 8-9 hours of fishing throwing artificials and flies. The place looks loaded, but they simply weren't there. Saw numerous other guides back there and no one was catching fish.

Sunday my buddy Ricky and I hit the water the entire day. We cast net some deep hole shrimp in the harbor and took those to numerous spots spots around the area. Extremely tough fishing until we got to the last dock with two hours of light left. As soon as the tide started falling we started whacking the fish, catching trout up to 19", one red at 25", several small black drum and losing three reds to the dock pilings that put up much bigger fights than the 25" red. We put at least twenty fish in the boat and I even brought a few home to eat, which is rare for me.

Overall a great day, I learned a ton more about fishing in the area (its all tide dependent and if they won't eat anything else, live shrimp is a damn good bait) and Ricky and I traded tips on spots to catch fish. Surprisingly he did not know any of my secret holes that I regularly fished when I lived there for a summer, which was a great feeling for an out-of-towner to show a local some new tricks.

I'm still a newb when it comes to posting photos here in the text boxes, so here's a facebook link to a pic of some of our fish.

Oh and coming home from 75 degree Charleston weather to 17 degrees this am in RVA sucks. I'll be tying flies the rest of the winter.

I caught one ladyfish this morning. I'm definitely getting frustrated sitting around waiting for something to bite.

Saw the entirety of the Orange Bowl, not one snap of the Cotton Bowl.

The shame is there has been some GREAT Bowls on NYE through the years, that most just don't watch regardless.

The LSU-Clemson and Duke-TAMU CFA Bowls were both recent great games barely anyone saw.
