So this was kind of a reverse Bobby Petrino situation? The Eagles management has looked like idiots this year.
I think UNC takes a serious step back next year without Williams at QB. He turned out to be a much better QB than I was expecting.
I would like to know myself. I guess this explains why Bucky was the wildcat QB during the bowl game. He was pretty beat up by the time Brewer came back.
I have worked with several of the ACC officials...believe me, they need to have MUCH more turnover. Many of those guys are pathetic....poor test results and terrible mechanics

It's just a question of what the bowls should represent. Historically, they have been an accolade for a good season. That threshold has been lowered as more and more bowls have been added, to the point that not only are teams with losing records making bowls, the level of competition is low enough that those losing teams are being competitive in the bowls.
If we're okay with bowls just being another non-conference game, that's fine. We're almost at that point now. But let's stop all the talk of bowl streaks, how many "bowl teams" are on the schedule, or any other mention of a bowl being some measure of the quality of a program.
Either way is fine. But bowls are essentially becoming participation trophies.

Now that UNC-Baylor is over I'm watching LSU-TexasTech and I think I missed a news story. Are all this year's bowl games being played with 11 on offense vs 10 on defense, or just the Independence Bowl and today's games?
Add me to the list of those who would love to read any thoughtful commentary on officiating. No other subject draws as much thoughtless, uninformed commentary as the hard work and occasional mistakes of the officials.
Do you officials feel like the targeting call is becoming footballs version of the block/charge call in basketball, but with much more severe consequences? It's usually a very fast play and hard to tell who initiated the contact. What needs to change to make this call easier to get right?
This is fantastic. If you do decide to do a series of posts out of this I would love to see how different conferences handle the evaluation of their officials, if it leads to different rates of turnover, and if their is any correlation between turnover and improved grades (i.e. consequences for poor performance leading to better performance). Their is so much material to be mined from this subject.

This season isn't going to down as a black eye for Fedora. UNC's success this year is far beyond what they were even hoping for. USCe is the only bad loss out of the three. Baylor is a bit of a head-scratcher, but their athletes are phenomenal and their game plan was basically drawn up in the dirt.
UNcheat lost to every team they faced on a neutral field. Fedora should have jumped to a better job when he had a chance to.
I'm glad Brewer got to win bowl games with Tech instead of Texas Tech
Air Force had their starting safety ejected today for targeting. Receiver turned as he was being hit and the guy made contact with his head. Seemed like a normal football play without intention to hit him in the head and Steelhammer got ejected. Yes, that's his name, which is awesome. The call was ridiculous in my opinion.
Also, an LSU linebacker just made a tackle, lowered his helmet and took the crown right into the helmet of a TT player, in front of the ref. No call and the LSU players celebrated a big hit.
It's fine they want to protect the players but there has got to e some consistency.
How are you going to give a guy GM powers and then just fire him after one year

Yea I saw that, I have seen other sites and things on tv where they listed him at 6 feet. its really not that big of a deal to go back and forth on this though.
