If VT beats Tulsa, Beamer will be 11-12 in bowl games. I always thought that was the one weak point to CFB's coaching legacy, but then I saw that Nick Saban is 8-8 in bowl games.
I agree, it definitely seems like a major head scratcher that, after the Empire was essentially wiped out with 2 Death Stars being exploded within a short period of time, with at least one Super Star Destroyer eliminated, with the Emperor and Vader, the 2 major heads of their organization eliminated, that the organization somehow came out of it stronger, able to assimilate an entire planet into a star eating superweapon of a home base with who knows how many million crewmembers, all with at least competent combat training. And they keep losing to a ragtag team of rebels and resistance fighters who are... not the best trained as a whole.
Also, with the whole Republic planets getting annihilated, I can't help but think towards the Star Trek universe where JJ came in and made it his own by blowing up Vulcan. Basically said "I know what was done before, but things are different now, and this is now my universe". Felt like he was conveying the same message about the prequels, but blowing up everything those movies were located within.

Most of the cronies are still under US federal investigation. I think the only people left running FIFA are the ones who honestly want to clean it up, but were unable to fight the corruption from inside. This is a systematic dismantling of a corrupt organization, both from within and without.

He made a jab that if we had been awarded the 2022 World Cup, the investigation would never have happened. The guy is an egomaniacal sociopath.
I still think it's funny, though, that basically the entire civilized world despised Blatter and knew FIFA was corrupt as hell, yet could do nothing about it, and then along come the Americans, who give half a shit about the sport, and basically bring the entire organization to its knees overnight. I think the rest of the world should now be forced to call the sport soccer.

I really never got the whole story on that, but I didn't pursue it either. I try to just stay out of what I call "internet lawyer" threads. I know one guy that I like a lot kind of lost his cool - maybe drinking a bit - shit happens. Posted some stuff he shouldn't. Then there was someone using internet skills nefariously, to get into the business of good guys that posted on the site and cause them trouble in their real lives - just totally unreal - and I think THAT was when the decision was made to just shut it down. The site was never about making money (pretty sure TCB is all set in that department)- it was like 10 bucks a year or something. It was just a place to talk recruiting, and chew the fat like you were at a tailgate. I really enjoyed it, because I couldn't get to games very often, and it was a shame when it went away.
I follow college football closely, and at least until I had children, would have watched pretty much any game for about 12 hours every Saturday.
I remember those days.
