Well excuse me for asking...sorry I don't pretend to know a lot
about Star Wars. All I remember liking as a kid were the Ewoks.
I think he will recruit fine, but it is the area where Fuente has proven the least. He's clearly a program builder, he's clearly excellent at player development, he's clearly an elite offensive mind, he's clearly a QB whisperer. He has proven during this transition to be very considerate and has demonstrated magnificent leadership qualities.
But one 4-star QB does not a great recruiter make. He may be a great recruiter, and recruiting to VT and not Memphis will help..........but Fuente being a great recruiter is utilizing a lot of projection and not data to support that opinion at the current time.

Unless they're 100% devoted to the institution and the guy they're working for, competitive people like football coaches want to move up and want to do it as quickly as they can. In such a fluid market as coaching is now, there are lots of opportunities to move up every year.
The stability of the Beamer/Foster era was somewhat unusual when it started and is virtually extinct now.

I'd have to disagree - it's the culture of football at all levels. Sure he's an adult, and so are the players on a college team. Yet we talk about players needing to be "tough" and when they need to come out of a game, there's astigmatism of them not being "tough enough" or "injury prone", and that affects you in all sorts of manner in the NFL. The more we encourage players at all level that it's ok to say you're hurt and you need to come out then the safer it'll be for the players.
Fuente and VT have something to prove in general, without regard to this clown.

# | New Head Hokie Justin Fuente Lays Out His QB Preferences, Plans for Staff Transition Not hard to read in that Fuente thinks playing Lawson as a true freshman did him a disservice -- he simply wasn't ready for the whole jump (both life and football), which very few kids are. The old administration may have had to promise that given the recruiting conditions in place, but it's good that Fuente's (a) not shy or slow about making that call and (b) able to present it publicly in a way that doesn't speak poorly on the kid or the old staff.

It seems they have some confusing criteria.
I have Justin Fuente last ... even though his turnaround job at Memphis rivals any in recent college football history, and even though I think Virginia Tech's hiring of him is the best hire of silly season.
How can he be the best hire, but rank lower than Mendenhall, who was hired in the same class?
It seems their criterion was "most accomplished", which is different than "best".
I guess it gives Fuente and VT something to prove.
