It wasn't sexual harassment and the suit was dropped anyway, the recruit wasn't a recruit at all but his sons friend. To my knowledge he hasn't had any problems at Maryland. And to be clear I'm not arguing we should hire him, just pointing out he is a very good recruiter and offensive minded coach

You don't think that last years game against Virginia was meaningful (besides the Commonwealth Cup)? That the drama of getting to 6 wins and making a bowl saturated that game? It sure did feel like one of the most important games ever. And this year had the extra threads of Beamer's last game
Yes, assistant coaches switch positions all the time - except at VT. I would think the majority of the reasons is that the head coach is more comfortable/experienced with an assistant at one position (Wiggins at WR)

Our offense definitely has been suffering for years. Lefty was definitely better than his predecessor and the dreadful Logan Thomas era. But still not up to par. I think the reasons are complex. Some is lack of talent. We just have not drawn the best talent to the school like we used to. But it's not all of it. I don't think the offense was too complex even though we had an array of substitution penalties.
You could also see just a lack of enthusiasm. There has been something intangible I think.
Loeffler did better than his predecessor and did reasonably well given what he was dealt. But no doubt he was unable to make it click entirely.
Of course the early-decision recruits deserve the same kind of fanfare that those who wait until National Signing Day get.
There's a good bit of hype going into the media coverage of these recruits nowadays.
I'm going to be visiting this weekend. Let me know where these recruits are and I'll buy them all Rails. It's the Friendly Blacksburg Hello!
Edit: This is clear sarcasm btw. The whole "alumni interacting with recruits" and "buying alcohol for minors" things are not hobbies of mine in case the NSA/NCAA are watching.

I guess I'm a little out of the know, but do you think there any chance he is retained by CJF? Probably unlikely, since he's a HC candidate, but if he can't land a reputable HC position, it might not be bad idea for CJF to make him an offer to keep him on staff.
