Hopefully this will turn into another weekend at the office for us
And thats it, we have a record: 12 straight original posts without a TE joke!
We are entering a new era of Hokie Football!
#JustinTime
Signed up to go to the Air Force and tore his ACL. Decided it wasn't for him and wound up at a very good JUCO for developing QBs.
Lawson could've QB sneaked for 20 times and had more yardage than what we had for the Pitt game.
This is correct. He is an early enrollee anyway though, so he's going to be on a campus in January
I think what Egbert is saying is that he hopes he put the brakes on the joke...Justin time
doesn't look like he was even ranked or even had offers to play football after HS so he went JUCO
This weekend is huge for recruiting
He can sign a LOI as soon as next Wednesday IIRC. That would be some damn huge momentum moving forward.
I just hope that we don't offer Caleb in the hopes of snagging his brother and end up with an Asante situation
Texas is having a HUGE problem trying to convince any OC to come on-board because none of them know if it's a one year job or not with Charlie Strong possibly being a goner soon.
Hence, the "two-year contract" they are offering to some..
Possibly a combination of both. Burden actually suited up a played offense in college. If you look at how RBs and WRs are used in today's offenses they have to have a lot of the same skills. Blocking, catching, ball security. The major difference is WRs don't usually run up the middle. If you think about it though, on jet sweeps they have to make read and a cut. At that point it may be a matter of how fast they can make the read, but speed in reads is not really coachable.
Maryland has Locksley and Aazaar Abdul-Rahim both of whom are widely considered fantastic recruiters, and it's not like London and Durkin are slouches either. Maryland will have some relatively good signing classes
That notion is likely music to Isaiah Ford's ears as the sophomore wideout is just 63 yards away from his preseason goal of 1,000 receiving yards. And if the Hokies opt to keep the ball on the ground, Travon McMillian (961 yards) should eclipse the 1,000 yard mark as well.
BOTH seem very possible.
Shane Beamer quote:
My wife will tell you when we were living at different places and a Virginia Tech game was on TV, I probably wasn't much fun to be around watching the game because I felt like I was coaching the game pacing and walking around.
He sounds like most of us - me for sure.
I'm not sure I agree with anything in that article....
Because at GT you can do that!!
Agreed. I think it's too late at this juncture. JUCOs can sign on Dec 16th I believe and he plans to early enroll anyway so I have a feeling he's far along in the decision process
good detective work....
Gerry Hamilton of ESPN is now reporting that he turned down Texas. Unreal.
I'm always curious as to why kids end up at JCs. Anyone know his story? Sounds like maybe he wanted to prove himself and get bigger offers?
All they have now is Murray (who may play baseball this Spring) and the JuCO guy (Is his name Huebner?) who came in late in the Ole Miss game.
I hope you are right. Also, Scott Frost has been recruiting him since he was at Oregon according to Evans' coach in a free 247 article just posted that says its down to Mizzou and VT.
Fuente apparently has been on this kid like white on rice for a while. Certainly looks as good as a prospect as some of the other big-time JUCO QB's recently. Many schools don't recruit JUCO Qb's for obvious reasons so that has surely limited his offers.
Yarrrrghhh make a good point there.
We all hate that damn pirate!
This kid has thrown for 3,000 yards and 38 TDs this year with 62% completion rating. Talk about impact in recruiting, THIS would be it.
Scott Frost was after this guy at Oregon and he visited UCF but is reportedly only interested in a P5 school.
247 is reporting Odom at Mizzou and Fuente are battling it out. Fuente apparently flew out to visit him just days after being hired at VT and was already recruiting him at Memphis.
FWIW, I checked his 247 profile an hour ago and it listed his status as "cool" for both VT and Mizzou. Both have been elevated to "warm" in the last half hour.

Odom and Fuente Battling for top-ranked JUCO QB
