I think 1800 is possible if he's the only back.

And if the OL can block. For reference, only 2 players this season have rushed for over 1800 yards. Derrick Henry and Christian McCaffery (who would have my vote for the Heisman). After that, Fournette has 1741 and should hit 1800 in the bowl game. Royce Freeman of Oregon has 1706 so he has a good chance of hitting 1800. Zeke Elliott could do it as he sits at 1672. Dalvin Cook also has a chance. So at the end of the year, you're looking at about 6 or 7 players who might have 1800 yards, all on top teams. I think 1500 is a little more reasonable, but even then, only about 15 players will have 1500 at the end of the season. In order for McMillian to get 1800, we have to run the division, play in the ACC Championship, and possibly even make the playoffs. But good on him for setting a goal.

He may stay on for the game. It's not like Texas is doing any game prep.

Yeah, as I see it, basically midway through the season the risk-reward ratio shifted in McMillian's favor. He can do an adequate job pass-blocking now, whereas before the coaches clearly thought he was a liability and were leaning more on JC, Trey, and Sam.

I just see a lot of handwringing that the guy will only be here a few years - then he is off to the pros. Guys that are truly like that...you can get a sense of it even when he is a true freshman. Lawson may make it, but he hasn't shown, that's all I'm saying.

Best to keep the talent coming in, IMO.

Brit dated a guy who is from VA, however said guy is clearly an idiot for CHEATING on her.

Really!!! How few true freshmen QB's come into a P5 program that isn't a dumpster fire and plays right away and plays well? College football for a QB is a difficult thing.

From what I gather talking to JMU folks in the know (full disclosure: my wife is a JMU alum and I've been to a bunch of their home games the past few years), it'd be a surprise if Withers left.

With that said, there's lots of talk even at JMU about whether Withers is a good coach, or if it's because he lucked into Vad Lee. Their defense was also atrocious this year, and remember, Withers made his name as a DC for lots of quality programs. Now from my vantage point, if he's offered the ECU job, he should take it now while he's still got some momentum on his side.

The fact that he didn't see the field after Brewer went down is an indication that he was a true freshman

Agree with your first and last point - Lawson has been on campus for 5 months now and he was expected to surpass someone whose been on campus, in the "system" and weight room 3 years longer than he has.

I think everybody's expectations of what a Freshman can do at QB (and a lot of other positions) needs to be tempered.

It is my understanding that transfers from JUCO or Community Colleges don't need to sit out the year. They are eligible immediately.

Actually, I'm not sure if he's an alum or just a fan, but she was spotted a few times in VT gear, so she's OK in my book.

We have had that in the past with Tyrod and Glennon. Remember, Tyrod went down and Glennon came in a won the ACC championship game for one year (I forget which.)

Interesting to see the #1 dual threat QB committed to Alabama. If there is ever a pro-style, stay in the pocket and pass team it's Alabama. Maybe that's what that guy wants but I think there is always too much talent on the offense there to "take off" with the ball. Alabama doesn't seem like a school where they want you to make up things on the fly with your feet too much.

So two years means he's a junior this year and needs to sit out. He then hopes that we don't have a QB for this year and he plays for his senior year and if he doesn't light it up looks to stay for a 5th year? I guess it would be nice but I'm not sure it's worth it. I trust in Fuente to get the QBs he wants and light a fire under Lawson (if that's needed, I don't know. For some reason I get the impression that Lawson came here expecting to win the starting job, but I could be completely wrong and that is based in nothing more than comments on this site). If Fuente thinks he's worth going after then so be it. If not I'm not going to complain about it.

Brady Hoke would be the best possible choice if interviewed. The guy has won everywhere but Meechigan. Even let the refs and the video booth win a sugar bowl for him.
