Well it's a perfect match. VT has lots of QB on the roster that need Fuente to whisper in their ears. Hopefully they can execute what they heard from the whisperer .

Because the ACC only has 8 conference games and uses a permanent crossover opponent (BC for us), there is only one open conference game each season, and it needs to alternates between being a home game and away game each season, depending on whether BC is home or away, in order to maintain a balance of 4 home & 4 away games. There are 6 Atlantic Division teams other than BC. Thus, the scheduling options are: (a) rotate through the 6 Atlantic Division teams one at a time, playing them home one year and away the next. In that case, you play each team in back-to-back seasons but then you will not play that team at all for 10 years. (b) rotate through all 6 Atlantic Division teams over the course of 6 seasons, playing each of them just once, and then rotate through them again over the following 6 seasons, playing them in the opposite venue. The ACC does the latter.
Two ways to alleviate the infrequency with which we play Atlantic division teams would be (a) move to a 9-game conference schedule and/or (b) get rid of the permanent crossover. There are pros and cons to both changes, although personally I prefer the latter.

I tuned in because I saw the VT football twitter say Coach would be there. So far though, this feels really uncomfortable. An awards show that, let's be honest, is only a thing because shmucks like me will tune in and give ESPN more money. I kind of wish one of the players showed up in track shorts and flip flops just to tell Chris Faller he couldn't afford a suit.

Motley had a very difficult time staying healthy in the 2014 season, even when playing just a handful of plays per game. I'm pretty sure he was knocked out of both the Wake and UVA games with injuries. With Brewer out for at least a month if not longer, it was a completely reasonable assumption by the coaching staff that Lawson would be forced into key playing time before Brewer was able to return. Thus, it made absolute sense at the time to burn Lawson's redshirt and start playing him, where possible, to get him ready if pressed into action. He played a quarter against Furman and 3 series against Purdue. The problem from that point forward is what Loeffler pointed out in the OP quote-- Lawson did not progress despite his tools. Then, as it turned out, Motley never suffered a major injury. We can Monday morning QB this all offseason long, but it was hard to argue with the rationale for burning the redshirt, at the time that decision was made, given the information available at that time.
I also agree with the other posters that this is all a moot point. If he's great, he wouldn't stay through 4 more years anyway. If he's anything else, we won't be bent out of shape when he graduates. A lot of fans were upset when we burned the redshirts for Macho and David Wilson since they played very little as freshmen, but in the long run it didn't end up mattering one bit. Even with the limited playing time as a true freshman, both of them still declared early for the draft. Of course, Macho declared for the NFL draft early before changing his mind and returning for the 2008 season. There's no way Macho would have returned again in 2009, even if the had the eligibility.
I think this is one vulnerability of Loeffler's complex offensive approach. The QB has to understand it and have the physical tools to execute it. QB1 will get the reps and the most time with the OC, so he should have it down. QB2 and QB3? They'd better be able to pick it up through self-study, given limited practice time. If you lose QB1, you're stuck with only what QB2 has been able to pick up, and that was only a subset of the playbook.
(The other problem during Motley's run was (a) disorganized RB approach during (b) shitty weather. Pouring rain, limited passing playbook, and yet we kept shuffling 3-4 RBs so there was no rhythm to the run game. Shane or whoever made that decision did Motley a huge disservice there.)
I work on the defense side of things as well, so I can't tell you what it's like in the other space realms.
If you've got the experience though, it shouldn't be too hard to move to the commercial side of things.

Could you imagine the fan pressure there would have been to put Lawson in when Motley was only doing ok (assuming Lawson still had on the red shirt)? At least, since the shirt was already gone, we trusted that Loeffler was playing the most qualified qb. I'm not saying that's why they did it, but it's interesting to think about how our reactions would have been different.

I feel like we were unprepared for Brewer to go down this year. I've seen several references/quotes on what a challenge it was to have a replacement. Did we just not prepare our backups at all for game time situations?
I understand that but I'm hearing from people that the school has decent seats at least some and buying through the school helps the school instead of some dealer. Just my 2 cents.
I haven't read any of the comments here so I don't know if this has been mentioned. But can you imagine the comments from Hooville if the Hokies had hired a guy named Bronco? We'd never hear the end of it!

I respectfully disagree.
My concept revolves around making Cassell more usable for concerts, other events, etc. Cassell can't hold a big name concert currently due to the laminated wood beams not be able to hold additional weight. To solve this problem, I'm proposing the removal of the existing roof and flying buttresses and expanding the concourse/footprint of the building to where the buttresses end now. The extra space will allow for more bathrooms, an actual permanent HokieShop, etc.
Add the turrets to mimic Burruss, Lane and make Cassell look like a damn castle. I'm thinking a lot of the exterior can be prefabbed concrete panels, similar to the Indoor Practice Facility. Cover it in Hokie Stone, since it's one of the few buildings on campus with out it.
For the interior, gut it and start over. Madison Square Garden, Georgia Tech, and Illinois have all done this. The new trusses will finally allow for a center hung scoreboard. For seating, mimic the Pavilion at Ole Miss or other new college arena.
