I think it's time for best albums of 2015 thread now.
Also, to paraphrase Justin Fuente on his first day, "we're going to do our own evaluation. We're not listening to anyone else."
The reason for the shoulder strips is that they were throwbacks to the uniforms Tech wore in Beamer's playing days...and it sort of stuck. They were not "hey, let's copy LSU!"
I'm not convinced that Mike London is a recruiting asset at the moment. He was set up at UVA in a favorable spot by the Thoroughbreds, and it actually probably backfired on him. The 'breds didn't like VT because we wouldn't stroke their egos, and London played nicer. He got himself a couple of 5* kids, and then did what with them? Nothing! He got a couple of stars and very little else in terms of top recruits. You can't win with such a disparity across recruiting classes. And now the narrative can be reasonably crafted that London, despite a willing pipeline of talent, still couldn't do anything with them at UVA. If he starts winning some head-to-head recruiting battles with prospects we want, then I'll start getting concerned. But recruiting to UM, which has had its share of perception problems and is not competitive in the B1G, is not going to be easy.
Its looking like WR is the new TE.
Play good, smart football and WIN. That will help our recruiting along. Stop worrying.
Timeout.
How did he do as DL at WM, LOLUVA, BC and as the Houston Texans DL?
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold up, hold up! TIME OUT now!
Don't look now, but it seems like we are making headway in flipping 4* WR (#16 WR nationally) DJ Matthews... He is currently a FSU commit.
This Fuente guy... I like what he's doing
TIMEOUT!
Um, this is 2015, you can buy beer anywhere even in the "dry" middle east
Maybe he is going to College Park to utilize his police skills to control the a-holes students at the University of Maryland...

I'm with you - our current white or maroon uniforms with the shoulder stripes with the helmet from the UVA game is by far my favorite look of the past several years.
As an "oldie" Hokie, I like tradition. Having said that, I like that new tri colored suped up helmet. I really do dislike radically different uniformed from week to week. I hope whoever, comes up with a nice, not wild, uniform that is a reflection of the new era, and we stick with it. When you see the uniform I want folks to immediately associate it with VT.
I didn't know who Logic was until now. I'm going back to my I Love Lucy reruns and early bird specials.
Where are you traveling from?
When I was in California in May, they have locations that will ship the wine, and beer for that matter, that you purchased to your front door. I bought a case of Pliney the Elder and the convenience store at Pebble Beach had a beverage shipping service that took care of everything for me. Most will run you $25-$50 in shipping, but well worth it if you get your hands on some killer beer/wine.
Of course, if you're not in CA, I'm unsure. But do check with the UPS/Fedex. As long as you are shipping to a state that can receive alcohol shipments (i.e. VA, MD, and others) you should be ok.
Maybe we should play Lawson and get some use out of that burnt redshirt.
Just because a player doesn't/didn't have other offers didn't/doesn't mean they are not any good. Often especially on defense VT would be a kids first big offer. They are/were great talent evaluators.
Pfff, dude, Logic is one of the best hip hop artists out there today. I don't like his newest album, "The Incredible True Story" quite as much as last year's "Under Pressure" โ I ranked "Under Pressure" as my favorite album of 2014 โ but it's solid and Rhetorik crushes it as always. Go Hokies!
Our 4th down QB chasing the ball over his head, recovering in the end zone and then kicking it back to the 50.
Pele would have approved of that play.
That and of course, Rogers juking Apple out of his jockstrap. Not bad for a fullback.
Saying we should win the state in recruiting is not the same as saying we should only recruit Virginia. Building a national brand and being seen as the top destination for Virginia recruits are not mutually exclusive.
There are various successful strategies. Do we want to be like Michigan (recruit nationally with no particular state focus) or Wisconsin (dominate the state but limited national recruiting)? The most successful schools (e.g. Alabama and an Ohio State) do both. Whatever else we do, I'd like to win the state.
Cannot unsee
Sounds like it's time to do away with the lottery, and make it first come first serve. Lottery wasn't a thing for basketball when I first got to Tech, but that was Ricky Stokes' last year, so it wasn't much worth watching, and the women drew about double the attendance. When we joined the ACC, they sold a student season ticket (which was just a scan card) that I bought while sitting with the Hollerin' Hokies. That got us front row seats that year. During Big East years you just showed up and got a ticket at game time (maybe earlier in the day for uva)

Agreed. Without even considering injury history, I'm higher on Marshawn than I am on Shai. My top two RBs for next year are Travon and Marshawn, and I'm hoping Deshawn has the skills he's advertised to have. As I say those three names out loud I think their backfield title should be "On and On and On"
