I stand by my previous statement. VT can't expect to go to out of state every year and reel in 10-15 quality kids from the southern states. VT just isnt that type of program yet. There is a lot of talent here. You can't deny that a great majority of the historical players that we love, have in fact, hailed from Virginia.
Even if you don't care for the music why can't you just be happy a fellow Hokie is having some success?
I think you misinterpret the narrative. The narrative is, if the coach thinks a 2-star is worthy of scholarship spot based on their review, then it makes no difference the rating or number of offers. The coaches has proven the ability to find over-looked talent. You are asking for a different narrative, and yes, VT should be able to pull in more 4-star and 5-star caliber players than they do. But that does NOT preclude nor alter the ability of a coach to offer a 2-star a scholarship offer if worth. It's not an excuse.
Victor Greene may not be worth of a scholarship offer. If it's true that Foster was going to take back the offer, this is a different scenario than Danny Coale, Luther Maddy, etc. However, if Greene was deemed worthy by the staff, then it's NOT an excuse to land more talented players. It's simply their evaluation.
I'm so over this narrative. Yes, you are correct; Virginia Tech has had some success in recent history with developing talent that went largely unnoticed by other FBS programs. However, Virginia Tech, a program with a tremendous amount of history and success, should be able to fill out a roster with kids that were highly or at least moderately sought after by other FBS programs. The Dadi Nicolas and Luther Maddy stories are great but they cannot serve as an excuse for a coaching staffs' inability to land more talented high school players.
I never really understood the offer for Clay Dean to begin with.
Just look how happy JaQuan Bailey is that Coach Wiles stopped by his house! Now that is the face of a kid who has zero intentions of flipping his commitment.
That Mike London never ceases to annoy me.
Somehow managed to go from my least favorite team to my second least favorite.
He's one step up from snakes in Indiana Jones movies.

He got multiple five star athletes to come to UVa, it's clear he's an excellent snake oil salesmen.
He was going into his senior year and then didn't keep in shape. The three real sites dropped him to a 4* and espn lazily left him at 5*
This guy has had good luck using clothes / crumpled newspaper:
http://www.beerlycoherent.com/2012/06/taking-beer-bottles-on-planes.html
I had no problem bringing beer back from Colorado. Crammed a 6 pack and a 750ml in my checked bag, nestled among my clothes. The pressure isn't a problem, the much larger risk is bottles breaking from impacts. Luggage gets tossed around a good bit, and stacked on/under other luggage. So make sure you give good padding around and between bottles. Might not be a bad idea to bring some bubble wrap to put around each bottle individually.
If you don't have room in your checked bag to pack them safely there is always FedEx or one of those craft beer ordering/shipping services.
That's true. I think he was a 5* on Espn, but a 4* everywhere else.
Depends on which recruiting site you look at.
I didn't mind the call. I think the probability that he makes it is similar to that of a successful hail mary for a TD. The real head scratcher in that game was the clock management right before that. We wasted a lot of time that we could have used to get in better field goal range.
Wasn't Settle also a 5*?
As long as it doesn't come with a Sean Glennon 2.0
I'm really not worried about this. If a recruit wants to go to Maryland because a washed up defensive line coach that was fired from LOLUVA due to the obvious inability to coach tells them they should, by all means be my guest.
One of University of Richmond's most famous alumni is a rapper named "Lil' Dicky"...he hasn't hurt the UR "brand". I don't think a DJ (a very talented one at that) is going to do anything to obscure the academic reputation of Virginia Tech. I'll put it this way, when I see this:

I don't think, "Wow, that Georgetown must be a pretty bad school if people of ill repute are wearing their clothes".
Yeah, that's not good. Recruiting the DMV region is going to be more difficult because of this.
He basically playing the role that Tom O'Brien played while he was at UVa.
two things about student seating on the sideline
1) it cannot be on the team bench side
2) there will need to be a dead row or two (or elevated loges?) behind the sideline student sections to allow contributors with weary knees to sit down and still see the court over the heads of the students who will be standing much of the time.
"Mike, you're going from head coach to position coach. Do you see this as a debasement?"

That intro is seriously wasted on the Cavs
And I'm not just saying that because they share a nickname with UVA.
..
or am I?

nope.
Luther Maddy had 2 FBS offers, VT and Western Michigan.
meanwhile,
Dadi Nicolas aka Wedley Estime had 5 FBS offers, including 3 P5 offers (VT, Minnesota, Kansas, Western Michigan, Florida Atlantic)

That bulldog does seem to enjoy the melon he's being fed.
