Texarkana is only about an hour drive away and is also a straight shot on the interstate. I've never really known anyone to fly in and out of there which is why it didn't occur to me, but it would be a lot shorter drive than Dallas.
Yep. Charlotte is an easy day trip and I have family whose living room I would have invaded had it been Annapolis. Just can't make it to Shreveport. I'm happy we made it to a bowl period, but I don't have to be happy about the fact that I can't make it in person.
I'm thrilled to see these guys suit up again this season no matter where they do it, but having lived in Charlotte since leaving Blacksburg I really wish it was here for 2 large reasons. First, I'm supposed to welcome daughter #2 to the world right before Christmas and there's no way I can take a trip, but I'd be willing to live with the doghouse to sneak away for a few hours in my backyard. Second, my first Hokie game was Frank's first win all those years ago against Navy, I'd love to be able to say I was there in person for his last win as well. Oh well, I'll enjoy it from the couch with the next generation.

Maybe irrelevant now , but I doubt it was so at the time to The loser of the ACC championship game. Bowden used influence say's it all.

Best the new staff can hope for is get a couple decommits back in the fold, hang on to what we have and bring a few of their previous targets on board. Pitt wanted the military bowl. Thy didn't want their fans to have to travel very far.
As long as it looks good I am all for it. What I don't want is a "unique" uniform that comes out like Miami's or Louisville's re-branding did (a hot mess). Thankfully we are not sponsored by Adidas like they are.

In their defense I wouldn't wanna go to the sun bowl either. Not sure why the ACC has a bowl-tie in to a game in El Paso, TX. Their fans barely show up to their home games, so they definitely weren't going to show up in Texas. Their AD pushed and got them into the closest bowl game to their school and gets a ranked opponent (albeit on their home field). If Whit did that we would probably praise him.
You are 100% correct. NC State deserved a Tier 2 bowl and Pitt deserved a Tier 1 game. NC State beat all the teams they were supposed to beat and no one else, including going 3-5 in conference play.

A shame none of the Tier 1 bowls took Pitt. I think they deserved it way more than NC State, but I guess it really isn't about "deserve."
All our bowls are crappy compared to other P5 conferences. The Russell Athletic Bowl is the first non-NY6? Really?
The premier bowl for non-BCS games used to be the peach and the gator. The peach is now a NY6 and the Gator bowl hates the ACC and picks B10 games when available (Penn state over a Miami v. Georgia matchup???).
