I understand if the position is dissolved, but I don't think it would make much sense to bring in an outside LB coach to the position in Bud's defense. I would think that since we're staying with Bud, if the position is to be filled Brown would be the logical fit since he already knows the defense. I hate seeing Brown go, and I get it, but if we bring someone outside to fill the role, I'm going to be a little pissed.

I'm sure that Fuente wanted to bring Galen Scott with him, Brown is the logical choice to drop to make room

# | Hokies Can't Quite Get Over the Hump, Fall to Northwestern 81-79 in Overtime Agreed, but I don't think he is that player, nor wants to be that player. We've already got Clarke and Allen who have no issues going full blast to the hoop. We don't need a third like that playing crunch time minutes. But it is a bit frustration that he doesn't assert himself more on the game. He's so nonchalant of the floor, but thankfully, is what this team needs. A calming presence.
In the last five games, he's only shot 7 free throws, which is a problem. However, we're getting to the line as a team, which offsets this a bit.

USC plays inspired wins outright
Clemson. Big. Ain't even close.
Iowa in the upset. Wife is happy until the playoff.

Well, we know he works fast. From an article on TSL (with info from Rivals), Memphis had 4 verbal commits when Fuente took over in December of 2011. By signing day that December, they had 25 prospects, 5 of which enrolled in January. So considering he brought his 2 best recruiters with him, and we've got Gray, Wiles and Foster in the fold now, I think we'll see a good amount of activity between now and signing day.

We've slowly seen Brown's position become obsolete and we've been speculating for a while that Brown was either going to be dismissed or switch his role to another position.
In other words, I really don't see a strong argument that Bud could have made to Fuente in order to keep him.

Clemson's defense did not look good against Syracuse and USCe (I've watched them all year) and I think stats don't tell the real story for Clemson D, way overrated. I think barring Fedora/Williams shooting themselves in the foot, they will score plenty on Clemson.

Would it make sense for Shane to move to the defensive side of the ball and become the outside linebackers coach? It'd allow Fuente to fully stock the offensive coaches as he sees fit,
Temple +6.5 -- I don't love this pick. But Temple is pretty good....against Fuente at least.
Alabama -16.5 -- Leaned towards UF until it you said "UF might not score." Yep. Although, for posterity sake, I think there is a real chance this game ends 20-7....in case, I probably shouldn't take Bama -16.5.
Stanford -4.5 -- Okay, so I'm apparently an idiot. I had to google where this game was played, I thought it was played in someone's home stadium. Then I found it was played in "Santa Clara." I had to google where Santa Clara was. Still, inconclusive. Why are they playing in Santa Clara? What is "Levi's Stadium?" Oh, it's the 49'ers stadium with the bad turf. So Santa Clara must be close to San Francisico, which is kinda like where Stanford is located I think. So, home game for the red-colored-trees......This has been the college football version of "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie...."
Clemson -5.5 -- Don't love this one either, but Clemson's got a better defense than UNC has faced all year. And 'Quise Williams will do something to muck this up.
Michigan State -3.5 -- I do know one Iowa fan, and he's been really happy. But everytime I watch Iowa, I think, "Wait....who is Bobby Beathard? And is he related to this QB?" Then I have to go to my google machine again.......and the next thing you know, I'm standing in Santa Clara, looking for my Levi's, eating a cookie.

I realize that Seth can get where he wants on the floor usually but I like Bibbs in one on one match-ups a little more. I don't have that fear that he will turn it over when the ball is in his hands and down the stretch that is huge as evidenced by last nights botched final possession.

# | Hokies Can't Quite Get Over the Hump, Fall to Northwestern 81-79 in Overtime Northwestern's guards were very good. We got torched by them. Worries me heading into ACC play, especially when we go cold. Luckily, Bibbs and Allen can go toe for toe with any guards in the ACC scoring wise, but can they get stops on the other end. That's the key going forward.
