The big knock against committing to us, despite Bud and Co, was that there was no certainty any of those coaches would be around for a while, because Beamer was getting up there and who knew what was going to happen after he retired.
Well, that's not a problem anymore.
Stinespring leaving may be a factor
Perhaps I missed it, but I haven't heard about this yet. If it is true, it's a big hit, he's a good recruiter and TE coach.

I like the effort, but Frank did in home visits too until he had health issues last year. One of the big criticisms was his inability to close in recent years, Fuente being able to have this DE commit would be a huge moral victory

# | Hokies Can't Quite Get Over the Hump, Fall to Northwestern 81-79 in Overtime I am glad that Allen had 25 points, but he only had 2 assists while committing 3 turnovers (nearly a 4th on the last play in OT). These numbers are not PG numbers. Robinson needs to play the point and Allen SG. Allen doesn't have much court vision except for the rim as evidenced by his multiple drives into a very crowded lane followed by prayers rather than finding the open shooter or slasher. I am glad the kid showed some scoring prowess and big shot ability, but his mistakes and defense is costly and I think his gun-slinging approach needs to be tempered until he plays with more control. Funnel the offense through Robinson or Wilson until then.
I don't know if anybody listens to the radio broadcasts of basketball games but I do because I work nights. He stopped by and talked to Laaser and Burnop too. Burnop said something about how although they introduced Fuente to Enter Sandman, it was going to be a whole lot louder in Lane Stadium.
Fuente said "Yeah, I've Googled those videos like 80 times and listened to them all." Went on to say he had been talking to some recruits and telling them how great the atmosphere was and they were like "yeah coach, we know" because they had been to games and he said he was jealous of that.

I really feel like he could take over a game if he were as aggressive as Allen is. I also can't wait for Clarke to really get his feet under him. When he figures it all out and learns how to effectively finish at the rim it's going to be fun to watch.
