can we also release about a thousand balloons? I hear balloons only up the hype
If the refs actually called picks and illegal man downfield, spread offenses would lose much of their lustre.
Have we ever had a kid from Oklahoma on our roster?
Yeah I didn't translate my whole thought all that well. More along the lines of, if we get a touchdown lead we aren't gonna play keep away, we're gonna go get another one. But yes, legs.
Can we put the lunch pail on top of a hill and have our players run down that hill? I hear it's really exciting when teams do that.
Honestly, I think he's more self-actualized running a monster defense than he would be in a different role.
That tackle attempt on Malleck was rather...bland.
I'll see myself out.
Would this be Ender The Xenocide, expert tactition, or would we be getting Ender, Speaker for the Dead? Like where in Ender's life would we be getting Coach Ender Wiggins? Because I'd prefer to have pre-xenocide Ender who hasn't been broken by his unwitting mass murder.
En = in, on, or at, depending on context. So many possibilities...
And I hope that Lunch Pail sits on a base made up of a broken clipboard.
#16 bit about as hard as you can on the playaction
Mayberry would be one of the lowest ranked recruits of the class
Should go look at our previous recruiting, had the year played out like normal VT would offer lots of kids in VA just like him to fill up the team and we'd all congratulate him for committing to the Hokies.
See: Stroman, Greg
Bronze Lunch Pail at the exit of the locker room as you make the walk to the tunnel.
For real. Defenses couldn't Probe the Contours of his routes. Because of his work in the weight room last off season, he was really able to Flex his muscles out there. He is a Model A receiver. His stats should have Escorted him right to the top of the vote totals.
Also, Pinto and Raptor.
Is it so beautiful that it is also illegal? It looks like they got away with some lineman down field as the center is 8 yards past the line of scrimmage and a couple other lineman are a yard or two past it. Don't get me wrong, I love design and the play, but I think they got away with one.
Yea, I'm now thinking Cornelsen is the one coming over and Dickey will probably stay at Memphis in some capacity. Cornelsen was with Fuente at Illinois St, thus they have a long history. Dickey is more of a Memphis guy than a Fuente guy.
I read somewhere (I can't remember) that Dickey was calling plays, but the article was more than a year old. I'm starting to conjecture that Cornelsen may have been promoted to Co-OC this year to call plays. If true, VT definitely wants Cornelsen on their staff, along with his QB developing abilities.
I dunno about that... they blew the doors off SMU in the first half, and then it doesn't look like they did much in the second. It was 56-0 at half, with a final of 63-0. And I know they had a lot of games where they put up a ton of points, but quite a few of those were shootouts, where the Memphis defense was giving up a ton of points as well. Hopefully, that won't be a problem going forward.
Put it this way - Yes, they averaged 42.6 PPG this year while giving up only 27. But 2 of those games were lopsided wins against some bad teams (Mizzou St and SMU) and if you take those results out, Memphis averaged a 38.6 to 31.7 win this year. Yes, they scored a ton, but they averaged less than a TD per game win. This is why Bud was a top priority to keep, and this is why Fuente has the chance to elevate us to great. You're pairing a great offensive coach who didn't have a good defense with a great defensive coach who didn't have a good offense. If the two get rolling, look the fuck out.
Except for the woeful lack of staffing. It took FOREVER to even get in the gate because they had high schoolers manning them (and not all the gates were even open), and forget about the concession stands...
Bud, we don't deserve your loyalties. Hokie Nation really appreciates you. We know that you are one of the most important reasons Hokie Football is thought of the way it is. Thank You for staying with us. Losing you would have been a great lose.
Okay, let me try to walk this back a bit. I was responding to a post that stated:
He wanted to raise his family, have them grow up with grandma and grandpa. Now that isn't happening and he has to find a new job and move his entire family just after Christmas
I have lost my job and had to move to find work. My child will grow up far from its grandparents. It sucks and I hate it, but it is a financial necessity. I would be THRILLED to be in Shane's situation, with a salary that great and a parent who is a millionaire. While I am sure that he will move to a new job elsewhere, it will be to advance his career and not because his family will not be able to eat next month if he doesn't. If I were in his situation, I would probably stay put and get a job doing something different.
Sorry, I know you were just calling out my hyperbole about the retirement, but this all hits rather close to home for me.
When Bud Foster is no longer on our staff we have to honor him in some way. He's done too much for us not to, and he's proven himself to be a true Hokie through and through. So without further ado, here's my pitch:
The Bud Foster Commemorative Angry Turkey.
24 lbs scary feathery bird that absolutely hates the concept of a group of people getting from one side of a field to another. Bud Foster would also be given the right to pick the Bud Foster Commemorative Angry Turkey as well as give it any name he wants. If Bud Foster feels that no turkey is quite angry enough to be the Bud Foster Commemorative Angry Turkey he is also allowed to select another bird of higher anger, such as a swan or a cassowary.
In any career progression and analysis, there is a balance between quality of life, ambition, and core strengths. I imagine that coaching is no different in this regard. What does Coach Foster really want? At this time it appears that he wants to field bad-ass defenses, be teamed with an offensive juggernaut, bring championships back to Blacksburg, work for a coach that fosters a family atmosphere (pun intended), and live life on the lake. Hard not to appreciate this as a man and a fan.
Cross (the TE that caught that) reminds me of Sam Rogers; who btw was sitting next to the Beamers at the press conference.
So glad to hear. What I've been waiting for for VT. Also did not have an offer from Memphis so wonder if there just wasn't a need at memphis or if VT never reached out

I know I am much more interested in recruiting next two weeks than filling the coaching staff. Exciting times for Hokies!
