Locksley to UVA and the AAU pipeline to UVA is alive and well
We have a coach who, I'm not going to say is going to run the score up, cough SMU cough, but is going to keep the peddle down and make teams stop us. Buds defense will elevate to new levels when we can actually risk to sell out and maybe give up a big play.
Winning the Coastal is a pretty reasonable expectation. Not that I believe in firing anyone if we don't in year one, but I think it is the step we need to take.
Agree completely. I think 7-8 is reasonable for next year. Possibly an uptick in offense and a downtick in defense - we really need some DEs.
Based off the screens I have seen at Memphis, Fuente's screens are actually quick not the Loeffler labored birth of a elephant at the 50 yard line.
I could see Burden being retained for those reasons.
there should be a play button like on youtube??
So next year will the helmets all have faces from Top Gun characters?
Too bad Keenan wouldn't be around to rock the Maverick look.
Yea, I'd love that. Gurley was rated as only his 6th best recruit he was lead on in the last few years. Insane
All I see is blank space?
yeah wouldn't be fun to play against....unless our offense puts up 21 points on them in a hurry and they're forced to throw for the rest of the game. That could be interesting.
Would be fitting. But I think UVA steers clear of Locksley. I doubt they want to deal with his reputation.
That could happen. I hope not tho, we'll have to play 2 option teams a year. Our DL will not dig that. Ooofff!
God, look at how much more quickly Fuente gets the ball into the receiver's hands on his screens. I've always hated the way we run WR screens, throwing all the way to the sideline. The ball takes FOREVER to get into the receiver's hands, and that's time that the defense is crashing toward the play. Works so much better with a quick toss to the slot.
If Burden is getting an interview, that would point to Wiggins moving to RB, which would point to Dickey not coming over. But thats all conjecture right now.
This seems promising. Didn't know this award existed tho...

Edit: I read this as coach of the year, not week the first time. It's early I guess

No way in HELL that man should be anywhere near the team.
In 2009, Locksley was served with a one-game suspension for punching one of his assistant coaches. He also was sued for sexual harassment by a former administrative assistant, though he resolved all legal claims in that
here's a sneak peak.
Maybe WR coach/recruiting coordinator Bryan McClendon from UGA.
Uhm, yes please!
This is why I want to keep Burden on staff. His coaching mindset of producing well-rounded receivers who contribute as blockers seems to be a great fit for Fuente's spread. Plus Lynch has thrown for over 6,700 yards the last two seasons, so it isn't like Fuente never passes it. Burden has established relationships to the primary recruiting hotbed in Virginia, which I really think Fuente needs. When we were in dire need of wide receivers, Burden went out and got verbals from four of them. (I know one has since decommitted, and Deablo seems to be opening up his recruiting a bit, but that's all because of Frank's retirement, nothing Zohn did.) It seems like a great fit, and I could see Zohn Burden being Justin Fuente's Billy Hite, if that makes sense. I really, really hope he stays.
Folks, I think people are reading way too much into a single action. I realize not everyone on this blog is in the same age bracket, but for people who were born before 1985, like myself, un-following someone on a social media platform is not a big deal nor is it indicative of an ulterior motive. As someone famously once said:
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar!
BTW, why can't it simply be the case that Shane started following Coach Fuente to get a sense of whether or not he might accept the VT HC position. Now that he has, why keep following him? Especially as they are in the same building now and can communicate face to face...
We're a Technology school.... we can do that

Mayberry is listed as a CB/WR. Maybe Fuente is recruiting him as a WR to increase our depth there?
I'd fully expect Shane to take a new job somewhere else to continue to progress his career, potentially picking up a HC role at one of the non-P5 schools that are impacted by the coaching carousel - (i.e., Memphis, Tulane, Temple, etc.).
If there is anything for Shane to learn out of this situation is to see Fuente's (and others') success came from taking a chance on a "coach-killer" HC job - similar to Houston, Temple, SMU, etc. Contrasted with long-term P5 coordinator approach hoping to get called up to a P5 school without HC experience. Hopefully Shane can go run his own show to demonstrate his capabilities vs. trying to find another x's and o's job that may not suit his strengths.
Worst case scenario is if Shane gets picked up by the new uva staff - not sure he would take that - but cannot fault him if he did.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression they had 2-3 years worth of amazing recruits but that there isnt really anyone left. Blanding and Brown I were their last recruits I know of. Are there more?
