I am pumped! All aboard?
I 100% agree you play the guys who give you the best chance to win. I believe the point being made is that we don't know how good Burden is as WRs coach. Sure Ford and Phillips had good seasons but they had good seasons last year and it stands to reason you'd see improvement from them with another year of experience under their belts, regardless of who coached them. So then you start looking beyond those two guys, and the fact that no other WR was able to be developed into a contributor makes it difficult to assess the job Burden did this year. It's a small sample size and could be more of an indictment on our other players than Burden, but at the very least it allows a reasonable argument to be made that we don't really know how good Burden is.
Whit briefly talked about it in the press introduction. Sounded like a mere formality.
You win the internet today!
Nailed it with the LBs!
If this isn't intimidating to opposing teams I don't know what is...

This (having too many coaches currently employed) is exactly what I've been wondering about and not seen addressed anywhere. How is it that the NCAA regulations allow us to add 3 new coaches to an already full allotment through the end of the bowl game? Isn't this technically against a regulation?
I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed somewhere.
Guys. I cannot adequately put into words how excited I am.
So I'll just leave this here:

maybe, depends on my motivation and work schedule. championship week has always ended the 6 pick.
Reminds me of the old Roanoke times cartoon with a the Hokie player running over a couple of UVA players on a steamroller.
There are certainly more staff working under those people. These are just the ones Fuente has a say in hiring. The rest probably just go through the AD. I think we have all those positions, but I suspect like coaches, Fuente can either try to retain who we have or hire new people.
How'd you come to that?
Looks like gentyr is gone
Late to the party...
But y'all, this hire is MONEY.

Bringing some legit staff along, too. And wants to keep our already legit staff. How much better could this be??

Seriously, August 2016. Come soon.
Looks like Gentry is gone
Can we do a bowl game pick?
Really there are seven defensive ends better than Dadi and Ken? It's like sacks are the only impact that matters. Also Facyson has shut down a third of the field and was rarely targeted and wasn't one of the top 9 corners? I understand AJ, Malleck, Teller, and Alexander being left off because their impacts were more subtle. But really? #goacc
How does this work?
The university will provide a budget of $420,000 for the annual compensation (and creation of position if applicable) of a director of operations, a strength and conditioning coach, video coordinator director of recruiting subject to our mutual agreement
A couple of questions for anyone to answer.
1) Does Tech not already have someone already in all these positions?
2) Why are only 4 staff positions listed? I assumed these staffs were MUCH bigger
3) Is this compensation level normal?
Dude!
Really hoping Coach Gentry, Ferguson, and Ryan Shuman get retained as strength coaches. Widely known in the collegiate circles that VT has one of the best strength departments in the country.. led by a hall of fame coach in Gentry. Would be a huge mistake by Fuente to not keep them.
If he gets us two Natties in the process? I'm all for it.
We must have been wearing our sacksburg shirts backwards all season.
You beat me to the punch... It's a remix done in-house by Hokie Vision staff, started last year. It's just a *PERFECT* way to roll into Sandman, especially for the night games IMHO. Cutting it with the camera feed as the team walks across from the locker room to the tunnel, it's impossible to not get chills. Johnny Cash and Metallica? An eclectic mix that just fits the program.
HokieVision really seems to have stepped their game up the past two years in the hype/promo video area. We all like to rail on the feed issues, glitches and bumps, but seriously. They've taken it up a notch or two now that they've gotten used to the new scoreboard and sound system.
I hear that, my dad did brown water riverine patrols in Vietnam and then minesweeper after. They didn't have enough qualified shallow water guys. He then spent the next 29 years on land working his way up to CW04.

Thank you for posting this. Very enlightening about how it all went down with Bud. God bless that man. You know it killed him not to get this post -- or even a real shot at it.
