Judging by Fuente's track record he will start a young QB if he has enough potential. Did that with his current QB as a freshman and some fans didn't like it. That move paid off with 10-3 and 9-3 (so far) seasons and a 2014 Conference Championship. Plus that QB is now considered by many as the #1 or 2 QB in the NFL draft.

I like his view on recruiting. "Recruiting is about people. It's also about the school and the university, the community, and the chance to succeed for the next four years of your life." He kind of sounds like this guy from Hillsville I know.

Excellent article. I don't know about anyone else, but with all the coaching search whirlwind, it's been impossible to follow these games with my regular mindset. I'm always thinking about what the future holds. One way or another, we'll be a completely different animal next season.

One question. When you said:

There's certainly issues to be taken with that line of thinking โ€” after all, those aforementioned protection issues blossomed under Loeffler's watch, just as the long passes did.

Are you saying you think pass pro has gotten worse under Loeffler? That's not an impression I got. Don't get me wrong, we aren't good by any stretch of the imagination, but we averaged over 34 sacks allowed per season between 2008-2010. We got better in 2011, but mostly because Tyrod was untouchable his senior year. By and large, the sacks allowed under Lefty have been about on par with what we saw under Newsome's tenure. I always saw it as more of just an inability to fix what was already wrong rather than a decline.

Out of curiosity, can you show us some examples of the marketing campaigns you've created and how successful they've been? I'd like to see what you'd do given the opportunity.

Surprised it took this long for a message board to come up with a "and you call yourself a ...?"

And to be fair, it's hard to judge the direction of a strategy not knowing who their target audience is, targeting Hokie Club members vs High School recruits is going to have much different voice.

Fuente said in one interview that he simplified the offense once to make things easier for inexperienced players to execute. That is in direct opposition to the large playbook that Loefler had going. I think Fuente will keep things at a level that will allow a young QB to be successful.

Count me in with those that don't understand it either. I know it's an extremely unpopular position to take on such a youth oriented website, but to me, nothing screams YOUTH louder than social media. I get that it is wildly popular, but it's like Sponge Bob Square Pants or Dora the Explorer to some of us older folks, just not relevant or interesting. Sorry if I stepped on toes here, I fully expect a tongue lashing from some of you whippersnappers. Now, get off my lawn!

So you want the official Twitter account of VT football to stop catering towards young people?

And you're a professional marketing guy?

Mine too.

If I'm having a giggle at tebow's expense it's going to be in regards to the horribly inaccurate arm punting that he does.

And skip bayless' undying love for him.
