Funny you mention Mack Brown, I had heard a rumor a few weeks back that he was trying to work the back channels to getting the LOLUVA job

I was really hoping this thread would have been about him coming to Virginia Tech as a GA...

#SadFace, say what you will about his career/mechanics but I don think there's a person out there who would question his work ethic or character.

Usually after we beat UVA, I tend to glance at The Sabre to see the meltdowns. With Mike London resigning, it was a gold mine of amusement.

This week in UVa schadenfreude

I think the best way to evaluate coaches lately, especially ones who are 'underachieving' is this...

Woud you or would you not be afraid if (insert Coaches Name) took the UVA job?

I have yet to hear one person's reply "No" to Richt, Georgia just shot themselves in the foot with this one...

Also if you join now AND buy bowl tickets through the school they might even count them towards priority points towards season tickets next year.

I don't think his comments are any different than what everyone else was thinking. Clearly SL didn't think we could protect him. I know I have spent most of the season watching him get knocked down play after play. However, it does suck he feels this way and I do hope these comments were made privately to SL.

I am also very glad we are bringing in Fuente and have faith his regime will do a much better job protecting the passer.

Not sure why you think that. Rivalry games have a history of hard hitting matches. History says that Brewer will get hit a lot because that's what he's used to. The worst hits he took were ones where he extended the play and put himself in a dangerous position. The guy is used to it and accepts that it comes with the job. He's a hell of a player who has a realistic view on what to expect.

Mark Richt is an excellent coach, and an even better person. Players and former players are extremely upset about this. He went 19-6 the last two seasons with absolute scrubs at QB. I don't know who they will get better. It's the same thing with LSU, you can MAYBE poach an elite coach to make a lateral move or you can MAYBE hit a homerun with Tom Herman IF he turns out to be as good as I think he will be, but you have an elite coach right now. It's an odd coaching climate we are in right now. Extra glad we've got our guy.

I go back and forth on Motley. Hell of a lot of heart and guts, did everything he was asked to do despite a scheme not designed for him, won three games including the NCSU comeback, and his losses (not counting tOSU as his) were in shitty weather with a poorly-managed run game (before Shane finally settled on Travon).

But he did lose those games, and they were close enough that him making one or two plays could have won them. I also feel like his arm limits the playbook a bit, or at least it limited Loeffler's playbook; don't know how Fuente's scheme maps onto that.

Lawson didn't seem like he knew Loeffler's scheme enough this year to do much of anything. I wonder how Fuente's offense matches up with him.
