I absolutely understand if you can't answer French, but how in the world did UNC get wide open every time they had three receivers to the boundary (usually a tight end was in the slot)?
Pre-snap we showed the boundary corner like ten yards off the ball, Motuapuaka would be shading towards coverage and I can't remember but I think Stroman would be close to the line. It appeared we had two guys covering their three, but Motuapuaka would cheat toward that side.
At the snap all three defenders would go towards the line and by the time Motuapuaka would get their the tight end would be running past without any issue.
I'm sure that was an awful explanation, it's all off of memory, but three or four times UNC ran it and we got lucky with overthrows. A couple connected before a safety made a tackle 20 yards or so down field.
There's no headliner OOC game like Ohio State, but we do get our most bitter rivals all at home next season, so that's a plus. Add our ACC cross-division "rival" Boston College, and our CUSA 'rival' ECU to Georgia Tech, Miami and UVA and you get a relatively intense set of home games.
As much as I dislike playing ECU and wish we'd replace them with a P5 series, we need to get revenge before cutting them out of the schedule. The only really weak spot is Liberty, and they serve as a nice warm-up game before playing Tennessee.
I think I saw their pictures on some milk cartons.
I would expect a decent contingent of LU fans for our FCS home opener. I think we (LU fans/Alumni) tend to travel relatively well for an FCS school and we're only about an hour and a half away. I really want to make it for that game since Tech is a closer drive for me than going to an LU home game (though I also want to make it back for an LU home game this year since I haven't been able to make it to one since I graduated in 07-08) and the only VT game I've been to was the 2006 game against Clemson.
I never disliked him. I knew we were making due with what we had, but I felt like he tried hard and I never fault a hokie for giving it his best. Additionally, he took his demotion and almost complete lack of playing time with what seems like a lot of grace and a team first mentality.
Admittedly, the idea of poaching a proven SEC coach (Mullen) is sexier than an AAC head coach, but a couple things to consider as it relates to Fuente, IF he is the guy.
In terms of offensive stats, his resume is impressive.

Another important thing to consider regarding Fuente is his development of quarterbacks. Andy Dalton entered TCU as a three-star recruit with two scholarship offers – TCU and UTEP. Under Fuente's guidance, Dalton became the 35th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. His senior year (2010), Dalton threw for 2,857 yards, 27 touchdowns and six interceptions, while completing 66.1% of his passes.
Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch is a similar story. A three-star recruit with two offers (Memphis and Florida A&M), Lynch is now projected by many as the potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Through 11 games this season, Lynch has thrown for 3,448 yards, 21 touchdowns and just three interceptions with a 69% completion percentage.
The cupboard is almost assuredly better currently at Virginia Tech in 2016 than it was at TCU in 2006 or Memphis 2011. The Hokies are actually scoring more PPG this season (29.5) than any season post Tyrod Taylor. It would be interesting to see what an offensive-minded guy like Fuente (or Mullen) could do with Travon McMillan, Isaiah Ford, Cam Phillips, Shai McKenzie, Marshawn Williams, Bucky Hodges (assuming he stays) and Brendan Motley or Dwayne Lawson under center.
That's an awesome look IMO. Number on shoulders look good.
The number I've heard for student seating allotment was something like 17,000. I think that includes the Corps of Cadets, the MV's and then the general student sections in the North & South EZ and East Stands
Finally got to see the highlights from this game and was shocked at how poorly Indiana ran their offense late in the game. Maybe too much Hawaii for the Hoosiers to handle. Indiana allowed Wake to close this game on a 19-6 run. It was like they went to sleep around the ten minute mark. Part of their problem was that their top big man was in foul trouble so he wasnt there to rebound. Wake got six offensive rebounds in the last 10 minutes of the game.

Usually your #1 or #2 WR when passed on the depth chart can find a way to beat the #3 DB on the other teams.
Only thing I can think of is he was hurt, joined a sorority, or our coaches read these boards and realized how unpopular the kid was with the fans.
I'm pretty sure it was against Pitt and Duke.

I was thinking the same thing earlier. I was looking at his stats on HokieSports and he went from WR and Kick Return in 2012 and 2013, to just KR in 2014 with 3 catches at WR, to only playing 2 games this year and one reception for 7 yards. Is he hurt? I didn't think that he was that bad and was at least relatively consistent.
Well, it's hard to run a spread with no WRs.

I cannot believe our backup WRs Demetri and Kevin got too to no two catches tying them with Brandon Motley and Michael Brewer.
He won't have to worry about the new coach not wanting, kid is a baller.
This is awesome! For lots of reasons.
I guess he's pretty confident that we're going to get a competent offensive coach here. Hopefully Jackson feels the same way
Sorry if that read as an attack or disparaging remark, that was not my intention. I just saw too many people blaming the entire loss on the offense. It is a team game, win or lose, all three elements had bad plays.
I think Scot has done some nice things, and I also agree with you that we should not be making fundamental mistakes this late in the season. I do wonder how many of those mistakes are because our OC didn't pick his staff? But the first rule of being an OC should be find something that works, if the players aren't getting it maybe you need to rethink what you are doing.
I live in Memphis, and was just listening to Gary Parrish's local radio show, and he is pretty convinced this is a done deal. It's a really interesting listen (92.9 ESPN Gary Parrish if you want to find it) but he essentially said that he believes Pat Forde to have a contact in to the VT athletics department. He tied it directly to the Buzz Williams hire, and being surprised at how quickly he found out about that hire, coming to the conclusion that he's in the know through Blacksburg.
