He's doing that at Memphis. A place that was getting 0 recruits when he got there as the entire team was down to 50 players. Even with just 2/3 stars, that's still a marked improvement in recruiting. Nick Saban wasn't getting 5 stars handed to him at Michigan State, just as Urban Meyer wasn't at Utah. You give them better resources and pedigree and the level improves. I would say that getting 2/3 stars to Memphis is equivalent to getting 4 stars to Tech.

I like Tom Herman a lot, and he is falling off the radar. Urban Meyer understudy who knows how to run an effective system.

Fuente isn't the guy in my mind, and Memphis is falling off as we speak. If Temple beats them this weekend we should run the other way.

Some think we could strike it Rich with the coach at AZ, but I fear he may just Rod-rig us on offense before it all falls apart. I hope we name someone before the Hollidays. I pray Whit doesn't take the time out of his schedule to visit London looking for a coach. Besides, they don't really care much about football over there anyway.

Slight tangent - saw the GT robot on the treadmill during their ads and scoffed that "it wasn't a horse".

I know this might not sit well with some of you, but if you are of the opinion that Great offensive mind + Foster = PROFIT" then you don't have to really look any further because we already have that.

Loeffler.

I'm not saying that he's going to be out next OC, but he is a good offensive mind and a good OC. To that extent he's like Fuente. The point being is that we need a RECRUITER to really close the deal, since a great offensive mind with no high-profile recruits is going to be like the past few years all over again.

To that extent, I throw my support behind either Fedora, Morris, or Herman.

I hear what you are saying Bud, Fostering a clean, hard working and quality program may be the most important criterion. It's a Shane that some ADs (not Whit) will look past this and make the choice based on solely how Rich the new coach can make the program. I know Whit is working on this search with some Pep in his step.

the lack of logic in this thread makes me think its all clowning

for chrissake... guys like Kelly get a ton of reps to their backups... OHST had three QBs in one season play at high levels

if the program falls down after one guy leaves it... pretty much everyone else was dependent on that one guy?

seriously?

we need a guy who if he leaves, we get to watch the whole thing crumble? is this really the criteria?

Could very well happen. He might even be head coach at UNC. If we don't snag Fedora, I could see USCe or USCw potentially taking a gamble on him. They don't play defense in the Pac12 anyway.

just means you got clowned into reading what seemed to be a thoughtful and insightful post

like getting done with a negotiation... then your opponent gives you a big prize
