Shitty recruiting (which remains to be seen) would be a huge flaw. We have been treading .500 the last few years due to poor recruiting. I don't see how someone can discount that so much.

It seems like most on here hate Fedora, but he can flat out recruit. Pair him with BF and we will be in the conference championship game shortly.

Can we get over this recruiting stuff. VT has never been a big recruiter and honestly Fuente knows how to use the kids around him. Working with 2/3 star recruits and getting 10 win seasons? Are you kidding me this guy would be great! We already have the Campus, Fans, Lane Stadium, Enter Sandman, Beamer Barn, etc... recruits that he would get would fit his scheme. Let us not become the U with a bunch of 4 stars that don't know how to play as a team... just sayin

Fuente has been my favorite all along. I understand the sentiments with recruiting, but every coach is going to have one flaw. I think with a fanbase like VT's, the resources he would be given, and the sheer fact that Virginia Tech has so much more weight than Memphis, he would improve.

Some random dude posted on Twitter something like, "Who can stop SW2?" in reference to Sammy Watkins. Exum replied, "(raises hand) #youwasinthelibrary". It means Watkins was quiet during their matchup, because he shut him down.

Interesting. The IBSP reports from Betty and Nicks have been salivating. Yesterday they did video weigh-in's for a bunch of nice fish.

I keep hoping the big blues show up in numbers. I'd love to catch a giant bass on plugs, but I grew up with stories of my dad catching giant blues down at Oregon Inlet catwalk when he was in dental school at MCV. I want to experience that just one time besides when I am running live bait for kings. (When you are live baiting, the last thing you want are blues around.)

Word is, good numbers of schoolies were caught in Indian River Inlet yesterday per Bill's Sports Shop. Some had sea lice, meaning the ocean fish are on the move. A ton of BIG (20 pound-38 pound class) stripers with some big blues mixed in were caught on bunker in the rough surf at Island Beach State Park in Jersey today. I haven't heard any reports this morning other than the wind turned southeast, which may slow the migration.

I realize this is a little bit of a non-sequitur, but here is hoping that Les Miles wins out the rest of the season at LSU, otherwise, the rumors are starting that he may not be back and that could hurt our chances of landing any of these coaches.

Personally, I would want either Fuentes or Morris. So long as we can convince Bud Foster to stay.

Can tell you it is not gonna be any more successful any farther north on the Shore.

Long Beach Island, Brigantine, the Barnegate and Egg Harbor Inlets have been just ok to disappointing for Striper production so far.

While Tuna runs out of Manasquan Inlet have actually kept up and been productive even until last week, though weather in general ahs made Hudson Canyon runs more difficult than some years.

Let's say for argument's sake that where there's smoke there's fire (read: rumors out of Baton Rouge), and LSU's AD took a stupid pill and cut Les Miles loose at the end of the season. Does he garner any interest from VT? Could we even afford him?

Oh, didn't see that. Makes me feel better about their fanbase.

True this year and their rankings may have been better than the aggregate the last 5, but look at the OL, RB and WR talent in the NFL from LSU. Maybe they just missed on QB a few too many times.

I am not anti-Miles, rather just providing potential reasons he may be on the hot seat. Bottom line is that he has to go toe to toe with Lil Nicky every year and if the LSU 'swinging richards' think they should be equal to Bama, they have not been successful - whether fair or not.

As of now, I think I have Herman and Fuente as my 1a and 1b. Herman just looks like a guy who has the potential to be outstanding. Ohio State's offense has not really looked the same since he left, and he is recruiting some big time players to Houston. Limited head coaching experience, but he's undefeated in that regard so far. I think he would be an excellent hire.

If we can't get Herman, Fuente is my next choice. More head coaching experience, and what he has done at Memphis is nothing short of miraculous. Seems like a high-character guy. Knows how to build a team and get the most out of his players, and he is also a great offensive mind having groomed Dalton at TCU and now turning Lynch into a 1st round draft prospect. My ONLY concern with Fuente is recruiting. He hasn't really been seen a proven top-notch recruiter, as Memphis has relied mostly on 2-3 star guys and JUCOs. But, he has supremely overachieved with the talent at Memphis, so maybe he could really bring in the top recruits at a place like VT. A concern, but I think the net positive makes him a top candidate.

I would get behind Morris, but I put him behind the first two guys. He's definitely a great offensive mind and can recruit with the best of them, but Clemson looks like they are doing just fine without him. As I mentioned, compare that with OSU after Herman left - looks like he took their offense with him. I also would worry he would bolt back to Texas if given the opportunity for a bigger job. I wouldn't be upset with this hire, but it would tell me we struck out on Herman and Fuente.

And just no to RichRod. I think we can do way better.

As for Fedora, I think it's most likely a ploy to get an extension/raise from UNC by his agent. If he is genuinely interested, my reaction is kind of "meh." Has underachieved at UNC until this year, now that he has a ton of upperclassman talent and a SR QB (who I'm still not really sold on). Took him this long to realize you need to play defense and actually hired someone. He may be looking to jump ship if the NCAA is coming down on UNC. Would definitely be a power play to poach him from an intra-division rival. However, I would politely pass.

The Mustangs' head coach has three years remaining on his contact, worth $2 million per year. Some quick math reveals that it would take a $6 million buyout

I would certainly hope 3 x 2 = 6 is some quick math, at least for the author's sake.

Fuente seems like a great culture fit. But I'm really hoping for a dynamite 'crooter (which he may or may not be).

I think Herman is the home run, and I've still got him #1. However the feeling may not be mutual.

Not sure how I feel about le fedora, m'lady.
