Torian's interview shows that guy focuses on the worst case scenarios, why we had defensive lapses that led to defeats, determines the weaknesses, and figures out how to get his DBs learning and progressing to solve them. He is ready to be the DC. He would be great at that job. You all already know I am neck deep in the Bud for HC camp. If Bud isn't HC, no more DBU.... The entire Defensive staff will be gone. Let that sink in for a minute.
VT as a program needs continuity to traverse this coming transition. Bud for HC, TG for DC.

Disagree. The problem with that thinking is that you're assuming that bloggers and message board "experts" with "sources" have properly identified all of the viable candidates -- without any real expertise, inside knowledge, interviews, etc.

This offseason is no different than any other -- except there are going to be more open jobs and more available coaches than ever (many of whom we don't even know about yet). And as always, choices will come out of left field. There is no reason to think VT couldn't be one of them.

How many bloggers/message board experts with sources had Buzz Williams on their VT short list before it was announced? Or Tommy Tuberville at Cincy? Very few.

It really is becoming clear that people are going to bitch and moan regardless of who we hire.

Its going to be a tough couple of weeks for Whit, even after naming the head coach. Weve gone through some strange phases:

  1. Pushing back against the Mob that wants Franks head
  2. Realizing the Mob may be right and it might be Frank's time to go
  3. Excitement at the announcement and the idea of a future hire
  4. Humbled at Beamer's retirement speech, really understanding what were losing
  5. More Excitment over how great our job opportunity looks
  6. Stoked when initial names like: Matt Campbell, Matt Rhule, Justin Fuente, Chad Morris, Tom Herman are named
  7. Rumor-mill speculating of current HC's getting fired and taking the VT job
  8. Hating RichRod
  9. Clinging to our favorite prospective hire
  10. Hyper-critical of all other coaching options that arent said #Fav even to the point of "Hard Passing" on:
    • Those with little experience...
    • Those with too much experience...
    • Current Succesful SEC Coaches
    • Current Succesful ACC Coaches
    • Current Super Bowl winning NFL coaches
