I thought the womens soccer was going to kind of be a sneak peek at the new focus. If that's true, this is what they wore the other night.

Nike is going to make us orange?! But orange is awful. Why can't Merryman just be #AllMaroonEverything? /s
Personal opinion though, but I love the orange on grey. It's a great look with the right amount of pop without overwhelming your eyes.
Because he's just that cool!
Which is why, in my mind, the most important match up that isn't being discussed very much is our offense against their defense. It is absolutely critical that our offense takes a step forward against OSU. If our offense can't put more than 28 points on the board then we're in for a long night. Everyone keeps saying this game is going to be a low scoring affair. I think OSU is going to score lots of points regardless. IF VT wants to win this game they better be able to light up the scoreboard. Best case scenario for the Hokies IMO is that we score on 80% of our possessions at a minimum. I could see the total score of this game topping 70 easily
Can't....stop....trolling...

That being said, I see the Navy-esque lids being a one time deal for this year only. I say that only because the VT is the "tighter" version and doesn't have the proper spacing. Yes, they could change the stickers, but I think the new lids for the military appreciation game are a really nice touch that we do every year!
I feel like if Brewer goes down early in the season and Lawson is capable, he should be the one in there. Just a personal feeling.
I really like the way its coming across, with the maroon/orange blend, with the orange almost being the pop of color out of the maroon base.
When done right, it looks really good. In these renderings, and with the helmets we're wearing this year, so far, they are doing it right.
Just picked up my season tickets for East Stands and M1 pass.
One advantage Pryor has is he was also an exceptional basketball player in HS so he has some ball handling skills as well.
I'll be there. Only question is to rock the Mexico jersey (which worked in the Horseshoe last year) or rock an Orange VT shirt (which doesn't get quite the fan reaction). That is my only concern for the weekend.

# | Virginia Tech Defensive Media Session: A very newsworthy chat with Bud Foster How many head coaches would be out of a job if every time they opened their mouth and brought negative press to the school, they were fired? Pelini, O'Leary, Sarkisian, Grundy, and many others would all be out of a job. It's a blip on the radar right now, but history speaks louder than one instance.
I would be good with the orange being the glow orange but I hope maroon stays as the primary focus for the athletic department. Use orange for the orange effect games as the primary and for the accents but maroon is VT's brand. No other school has the maroon color like us and we should keep that as our focus.
Wow. Interesting article. A couple notes:
Tulane had made the decision to dismiss Sharpe from her strength and conditioning position following an incident with a player on the bowling team ... Sharpe disciplined the bowler by having them run after being an hour late to practice.
Making a football player run might be a different subject from making a bowler run. I don't know that you could honestly tell a bowler you were making them better, as well as instilling discipline.
which led to a parent complaint, and ultimately Sharpe's dismissal.
If a parent's complaint gets a coach fired, the discipline issue is the least of your problems.
As ridiculous as this sounds, there's a lesson to be learned in here and that is anyone that has their hands in how players are being disciplined should take the time to get on the same page with the athletic director
It sounds like this coach was not fired for punishing kids harshly; she was fired for being out of step with her boss. And because someone's mommy was upset that someone came home and cried about having to run. But that draws attention to the real issue with Bud's comments, which is that they took Whit Babcock by surprise.
True, but there is a big difference from the average person trying to lose weight and an athlete who is practicing everyday.
He'll be nice and slim come Spring time with a nutrition/lifting plan to thank.
Just have to figure out who to drop from my fantasy team
I walked right past Brewer at the Spring Game. I'm 5'9, there's no way that dude is more than an inch taller than me.
Yeah I saw that Thomas was his number 1 and all I could think was that this must be a weak class compared to recent years. I'm sure Thomas is great, but the guys in the last few years have been incredible.
Isn't saying it out loud the issue, though? Isn't that one of the differences between being the best coordinator in the country and being a head coach -- knowing how to handle that sort of issue at a press conference?
I wouldn't go as far as "lost his shot," but if I were on the interview panel, there would be some tough questions on this issue (not the issue of how you discipline kids, but the issue of how you handle press conferences). I really want to see Bud as the next HC, and when this story broke last week that was my first reaction: it could be a real setback for him.
Not going to make it to the game, but I took Tuesday off work and I'm looking for the bar in Richmond with the most Hokies.
"Maybe"
"Idk"
Kickoff can't get here soon enough
There is something to be said for knowing you will be on the field and have to prepare as such. You review film with more detail, value every rep, and focus more when you know your ass is going to be on the field under fire. I would rather he get use to the speed of the game and make mistakes when we don't need him to win as opposed to when we do. This is assuming of course that he is that legit to start next year which is not clear imo.

I'd be satisfied with either of these new helmets becoming the default helmet down the line.
